I've tested several drivers on Win7 x64 on my GT730 nVidia card...all of them FAIL & a WU is stopped to start another one...after 2nd fail, back to crunching 1st! it looks like screen going BLACK for a sec...& then a comic comes with text "your driver v355... have failed on GPU..." anybody had issues with those? ![]() ![]() non-profit org. Your graphics driver is crashing. Check how many workunits you are running at once, and check your overclock speeds (if any). |

Your GPU may be overheating too. Check your internal case temps and your GPU temp to make sure it isn't too hot. |

What is black screen mode? Regardless, the message you posted initially directly says the driver stopped responding, which is a driver crash. it looks like screen going BLACK for a sec...& then a comic comes with text "your driver v355... have failed on GPU..." This means driver crash. |

"black screen mode" is when GPU turns off monitors...so no graphics ON! just crunching in the background... well yes...so, why do drivers crash? Even though I've made a "clean install" on v355? ![]() ![]() non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |

"black screen mode" is when GPU turns off monitors...so no graphics ON! The driver is still running even if the monitor is turned off. The driver must be running in order to crunch as the libraries required for crunching are part of the drivers. well yes...so, why do drivers crash? Even though I've made a "clean install" on v355? Drivers can crash for a variety of reasons. I've mentioned two in this thread: overheating or overclocking. Also, running too many workunits at the same time can overload the driver and cause it to crash. Running other GPU-accelerated programs can cause the graphics driver to crash (web browsers now include GPU-acceleration, as do MS Office programs, for example). The drivers could be buggy. Do other users have crashing issues with the same version? (Check number crunching forum as you'll get more answers there.) Have you tried backing down to a different driver revision? |

maybe that is it...crashing in Google Chrome, 'cause of GPU acceleration! :/ is there a way to not use GPU acc in Chrome or Firefox? ;) Tied backing up, still problem persists...probably 'cause of newer Chrome or Firefox versions! ;) ![]() ![]() non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |

In Firefox: Options->Advanced->General->Uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available"->OK You can also check if there are extra settings in "about:config". Type about:config in the address bar and hit Enter. In the Search bar, type things like gpu, acceler, or hardware to see different separate settings that can be changed. I think this works in Chrome as well. |

I think this works in Chrome as well. in: chrome://settings/ - the Option in very bottom [ ] Use hardware acceleration when available (internal name is gpuModeCheckbox: <label for="gpu-mode-checkbox" i18n-content="gpuModeCheckbox">Use hardware acceleration when available</label> ) Â ![]() ![]() Â |

Try underclocking the video card down to minimums and see if it stabilizes. If it works fine at low clock speeds then there is likely a problem with the video card or heat sink/cooling system. You can increase the clock speeds in 5-10% increments towards the normal clock and see where it will run stable and set a profile to autoload at those values. I use MSI Afterburner 4.11 to underclock my GPU's during times when the computer room is too warm to save on cooling bills. It and other available apps can keep the GPU/CPU/HDD temperatures updated on the task bar for you to see at a glance. I don't like to see any GPU temp over 65 Celsius for longevity reasons. MSI also diagnosed and solved a problem I had with this nVidia card on the Precision m6500 getting black screens and driver crashes in a Sid Meyer's game. I have to run the game at 80% normal clock speeds to avoid black screens but any other application has worked fine. |

after acceleration, no problems here...must be in a probelm in codec of Firefox/Chrome + SETi@home calc in the same time! ;) ![]() ![]() non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |

I have Win10 x64, nVidia GPU (GTX960, 2GB memory) with the latest drivers and use Chrome with acceleration enabled. No issues. |
