Someone had too much time on their hands after one too many drinks....

Meet the shot-slamming robot that keeps you from drinking alone
A Korean inventor says he built the Drinky Robot to help him unlock "the secret taste of alcohol."

here's an inherent contradiction in drinking. Do it with a group of friends and it's called partying. Do it by yourself and, well, there are a lot of names for that.

Because South Korean inventor Eunchan Park couldn't bear to drink alone, he came up with a novel solution. He built a robot that can hoist a shot glass to its plastic mouth along with Park, so man and machine can share tipple after tipple.

Could also show someone just how much they're drinking.

Woman's Head Found Inside Concrete Block in Lake
THE BLOCK WAS ATTACHED TO HER DROWNED HUSBAND'S HAND

A man strangled and dismembered his wife, entombed her head in concrete, and then used the concrete block as a weight to drown himself in an Austrian lake, authorities said Tuesday. Police official Gottfried Mitterlehner said the couple were a 72-year-old man and his 71-year-old wife from Germany but did not further identify them. Officials told reporters the head was found in a block of concrete in a bag attached to the man's hand. The other hand also was weighed down. The corpse and the bag were recovered by police divers from the waters of Traunsee on Monday. A day earlier, two suitcases containing the woman's remains were found floating close to the lake's shore near the town of Gmunden.

Scientist Claims To Have Figured Out What The Mysterious "Wow!" Signal Was

Very interesting. You might consider posting something about this over in the SETI@home Science forum.

Here is one "for the birds..." Flying turkey ruffles feathers about 'emotional support' animals on planes

If you think that air travel has gone to the birds, it has -literally.

We're talkin' turkey, as in that big Thanksgiving bird, one of which recently was spotted aboard a Delta flight acting as a "support animal," and that's causing a flap over how passengers are using, and abusing, comfort animal rules.

So how can a turkey get on a plane? Simple. The passenger provided proper documentation proving the fowl was indeed their emotional support animal, so Delta let the bird on board, and even gave it its own seat.

-snip-

More of a concern is the growing trend of passengers faking emotional support needs and gaming the system to get around paying exorbitant pet fees. Service animals are free, while shipping pets can cost hundreds of dollars.

SOAR president Captain Tom Bunn, a former commercial pilot who now helps people manage their fear of flying, says it's all too easy to get a therapist to write a note. And websites are popping up that provide emotional support vests and necessary letters for fees ranging from $59 to $200.

I've sat on that style of chair, they are "OKish" for a short period of time, then that back digs in...
Another thing is that type of chair tend to be quite "narrow and short" when it comes to the seat, and none of the sellers on Amazon (US) give any dimensions for them.
I'd certainly look at what the neighbours are "offering" as seeing and sitting in a chair is far better than buying one only to find its a pile of unsuitable junk (with all the return and refund time and hassle that involves).

Ouch, that chair is well past its "use by" date :-(

Word of advise, having been involved in selecting chairs for a number of public venues - It is very easy to get lulled into a false sense of security when you see ratings like "800lb" - you really need to know that is 800lb for 8hours or longer - a good many low cost chairs are actually rated on a "800lb for 30 or 45 minutes" duty, and that is use per 24 hours!

Looking at the pictures they are all "dining" or "conference" types, which by their design are not suited to supporting you for long periods of time, and may lead to back and limb problems in the future, or adding to any such problems you currently have.

That would certainly fit the bill

But OUCH :-( on the price

Just a thought, here in the UK we have companies that buy up end of line and surplus office furniture and then sell it at much reduced prices. I was able to get a really nice office chair that should have cost over £1000 for under £100 - and they delivered it for a couple of quid on top! It was what we describe as "shop soiled" - it had a mark on the back that made it less than perfect. It is certainly worth looking to see if there is anyone in the USA (or better CA) who does a similar service.

Perhaps Vic could consider checking locally to see if there is somebody with welding skills that could weld the broken joins on the frame on his current ride on the cheap?
I know that would not refurbish the upholstery, but might be an option.

Someone just tried to extort me. Anyone else get an email like this?

Unfortunately your data was leaked in the recent hacking of Ashley Madison and I now have your information. I have also used your user profile to find your Facebook page, using this I can now message all of your friends and family members.

If you would like to prevent me from sharing this dirt info with all of your friends and family members (and perhaps even your employers too?) then you need to send 1 bitcoin to the following BTC address.

Bitcoin Address:
1L7o1WUsciqyDx8Dj8EaFy4UNjeipCuwGA

You may be wondering why should you and what will prevent other people from doing the same, in short you now know to change your privacy settings in Facebook so no one can view your friends/family list. So go ahead and update that now (I have a copy if you dont pay) to stop any future emails like this.

You can buy bitcoins using online exchanges easily. If the bitcoin is not paid within 3 days then my system will automatically message all of your friends and family members. The bitcoin address is unique to you.

Consider how expensive a divorce lawyer is. If you are no longer in a committed relationship then think about how this will affect your social standing amongst family and friends. What will your friends and family think about you?

Sincerely,
Jennifer Johnson

No, sounds like random spear phishing. However I'd change *ALL* your passwords and turn on two factor every place that supports it.

It's a campaign of fear aimed at Ashley Madison subscribers even though 99% of the people who receive the email were never subscribers.
My advice is to have a good laugh.

Yes, quite a ruse.....

My understanding of Ashley Madison is that it's for people who want to cheat on their spouses. That pretty much means you have to be married to be a member, which lets out any number of us (Scott, Vic, me, Mark).

I've recently given very slight consideration to online dating, but I haven't even checked out any of the sites yet (especially not that one).

I have not received such an email, but if I did I would very quickly delete it.

I did report it to the FBI, and I normally change passwords every 30 days. I use an encrypted random password generator and wallet. I have over 50 passwords at any one time. So I have zero concern about them getting any information about me. Doubly so since I was not a member of Ashley Madison. But was just curious to see how many may have gotten the same or a similar email. If you get one, follow the advice shared here.
