The Colonel Sanders imposter reminds me of a show I used to watch called, To Tell the Truth: Three people faced a panel of judges. Two were actors trying to stump the judges into thinking one of them was the real-life person who they were portraying. The other was the real McCoy.

Hard to say, into which category this would fit. A piece of news...

Science (non-SETI): from Russia,

Politics: from Putinistan,

Cafe SETI: from Absurdistan,

Russian space agency gets replaced by state corporation — Kremlin.

Be it here.

Guess they are trying to compete with Space X and Virgin Galactic. Now they are into the privatization of space.

Guy Beats Fallout 4 Without Killing Anyone, Nearly Breaks The Game

Fallout 4 expects you to commit murder. While you can occasionally avoid killing others, the wasteland is ruthless and demands violence. That’s how Bethesda intended the game to be played, anyway—but clever players are finding ways around it.

--- snip ---

Ever since the release of Fallout 4, dedicated players have been working tirelessly to find a way to beat the game with zero kills. One particular player, Kyle Hinckley, stands above the rest, though: not only has he completed Fallout 4 with zero kills, he managed to do so on Survival, the hardest mode available. And he documented the entire thing on video, to boot, so his zero kill claim is entirely verifiable. Via Hinckley’s “The Weirdist” channel, here’s the first episode of his no-kill run of Fallout 4.

Well while I suppose it is an achievement, as it mentions in the article Fallout 4 has a "save at any time" system, you can also set it to automatically save at certain points, so this just means you have to play the same segment over and over and over again till you get the outcome you want. That would drive most people mad.

Still at least it keeps him off the street :-)

PS Yes I am currently playing Fallout 4 and yes I do unfortunately have to kill a few characters now and again, I do however try and keep the pixel bloodshed to a minimum :-)

A number of years ago, Chex cereal included a CD with a game on it in cereal boxes. Because it was intended for kids, you didn't kill the aliens, you just zapped them back to their own dimension. And they didn't kill you, they just slimed you until you were totally immobile. The lowest level weapon you could have was a spoon.

I'm taking a short break from all things boinc, people. My inbox is telling me, somewhat emphatically :( that I've stepped on a lot of toes I never intended to. I am so sorry. I'm in a bit of a sad and anxious place in my personal life at the moment. I can't take a break from that, so it makes sense to cut out an area of upset that I have caused for myself, until I at least have a little more resilience to the repercussions :) and have regained my natural inclination towards tact, which it seems I may have lost :/

Perhaps I'll also have the time to fiddle with things so that I can continue doing seti work, because the event log *pause to glare at event log* is saying no :/ and I don't have the energy to argue with it at present.

Off to work on my bounce-ability now :) Take care and best wishes to you lovely lot!

Someone had too much time on their hands after one too many drinks....

Meet the shot-slamming robot that keeps you from drinking alone
A Korean inventor says he built the Drinky Robot to help him unlock "the secret taste of alcohol."

here's an inherent contradiction in drinking. Do it with a group of friends and it's called partying. Do it by yourself and, well, there are a lot of names for that.

Because South Korean inventor Eunchan Park couldn't bear to drink alone, he came up with a novel solution. He built a robot that can hoist a shot glass to its plastic mouth along with Park, so man and machine can share tipple after tipple.
