Hi,
My computer does not go on the internet and I need to re-install windows and I will lose all seti at home jobs. It has quite a lot of jobs there.
How do I manually transfer those files to another computer that also runs boinc to be able to upload the files?
Thank you in advance.

What you are asking cannot be easily done. Each file downloaded is recorded in an XML file with a hash. In order to manually transfer the work to another computer you would either have to manually add the other computer's XML file to the new ones (which in turn would overwrite the XML file for it's copy of BOINC).

Or you would have to uninstall BOINC from the second computer, backup it's data folder, copy over the BOINC data folder from the computer that doesn't have access to the internet, upload, then uninstall again and backup the data folder once more, and finally restore the original BOINC data folder so it can continue crunching.

Thank you, I can see that.
Over 10 years ago I use to download works and run in another PC not connected to the internet.
I just read in some post that boinc doesn't run in a AD. In fact I am running in an AD on a server 2008R2 with AD, DNS and IIS. But I need to upgrade drivers and install windows again for a nice start up.

If you are looking to "preserve" the tasks for long enough to do the windows re-installation then the simple way is to copy the whole of the BOINC data folder to a usb memory stick. The default location on a Windows PC is
c:\programdata\BOINC\
then when you've re-installed windows its a case of re-installing BOINC and copying it back. Sometimes you are lucky in that the Windows re-installation doesn't disturb the data, other times.....

I haven't try nothing yet as I am busy. I can't let it go for a long time. I think the problem is my windows firewall that I need to look at.
Anyway, in the next two days with time I have to do something.
Thank you all

So you said "I need to re-install windows" just because Windows can't connect to Internet?
Describe your network problem and we may be able to help (and save you from re-install of Windows)
e.g.:
- is the computer connected to a Router?
- can other devices/computers connect through that Router to Internet?
- can "this" computer see the other computers on the LAN (e.g. shared files)?

After checking some log files, I found that a peer block firewall was blocking all my traffic to the internet, boinc include. I uninstall peer block now and it all works fine.
I was using a router firewall, a windows firewall plus the peer block firewall. It is best to stick with only one. Remote desktop was also blocked on the server.
I am learning all this computer stuff it is quite a challenge to me.

What would be a proper firewall program or hardware to run on windows server 2008R2?
Regards and many thanks
José Flor

PS in fact my server was sharing my two web site on the web. I was preoccupied because boinc was not running my seti@home projects and it was a big waist of CPU no to do it. That was the reason I want to reinstall windows. But all is running fine now.
I just can't wait until we can see some signal that proves ET are out there.

I use PeerBlock 1.1 with 9 lists but "HTTP is Allowed"
(so BOINC, browsers, and similar are Not blocked and only things like µTorrent, BitComet, Skype, ... are blocked to connect to the range of addresses "Blocking 1 077 593 617 IPs")
