SETI Account mysteriously missing/absent. I installed BOINC 7.6.6 Aug 31 (on both my machines>7459057 and 7589235 )- everything running fine til yesterday I had shut down 7589235 to R/R my 970 GPU (dust bunnies) When I booted up, Boinc Mgr Event log began complaining (Title [error]) and Seti Acct in fact absent. = I have System Restored Win 10 Pro x64 to State before Aug 31 Boinc 766 install; run some typical diag flags (state-debug, statefile debug, unparsed xml); dloaded 769 and installed + cold boot after, new definitions in Comodo + restart, and this persists (no Seti) = I do have a flash drive backup of ProgData BOINC folder from Aug 11, but not sure if this is solution - or just what to restore from it. Please advice best course...thanks PS - 7459057 is stable with BOINC 7.6.6 - no blips (so I guess my secondary question is, should I UPdate it to 7.6.9 - or revert one or both machines to 7.4.42 or just 7.6.6 on 7589235 before I move on to more drastic steps |

Update 12:45 CST - still methodically troubleshooting: Noticed a Critical Update 9/3 in System Restore Log so just restored to *it - which reverted Boinc to 7.6.6 Same [errors] posting in Event Log; Einstein(suspended) still the only Project listed. = Updated Comodo security; updated NVidia driver to Win 10 version 355.82 and confirmed/reset settings in Driver Performance and Run utility. Added unparsed xml, state debug, statefile debug flag; r/r Boinc - =No change = Viewed Local (C:/) File Explorer - BOINC - everything looks right, including 9/4 date on local folders, just not any fresh files = Should I try "Add Project" ? or something? I know there was a Network reset @ colo on Tues; and Matt is reworking the Astropulse Server Hardware(new bigger disks) and Science DB etc per his News release but these errors don't seem related Just the fact that my account File remains unparsed/executed so, ????? = Edit> Just cold booted "[statefile] set dirty: Set mode" - is still showing up in Event Log - don't know what that is |

Would be great if you could post the start up messages, first 40 or so lines will do. |

Thanks for stopping by Jord - Had hope initially that the Title startup message would do No response for 5 hrs+ had me continuing my own troubleshooting; which ended up *resolving this by "Add Project" from Manager (after running my Registry cleaner, checking on Win 10 Power Settings(yes they had corrupted), fresh clean install Win 10 NVidia driver and Tools reset(NVidia control panel) and reinstalling BOINC 7.6.9 - all to no avail but done cause it needed to be done. The outcome of reinstating SETI as a running Project : State: (Error = 200) whole cache "Abandoned" Pendings retained (505) thank goodness that's a bunch of crunchin left over from the SETI WOW event Sigh |

No response for 5 hrs+ ... Because your posts are hard to read (I give up after a few rows (yesterday I just looked at the 2 posts and gave up)) - what do you mean by using = on empty lines?? - what "Registry cleaner", "Power Settings", "NVidia driver", Comodo ... have to do with "Couldn't parse account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml"? 1) State clearly in 1-2 sentences what the problem is 2) Provide Event Log (Ctrl+Shift+E) 3) Check if the file account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml exists in BOINC Data directory 4) If you want to post it's contents - remove the line (in your post, not in the file): <authenticator>XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX</authenticator> (And of course the file is created when you "Add Project") Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
