I noticed that after I downloaded the latest version, 7.6.6 on 28 Aug 15, my computer starting running slower. I figured since it was new it had new stats and metrics to work out so I didn't think anything about it, give it 24 - 48 hours and everything should be good. When I got on today, 31 Aug 15, my system was still running slow. I update my hardware at least once a year, 32gb Mem, 260 gb SSD's x6, 8 Core AMD processor, Top of the line nVidia graphics card (when I bought it :-D) so I was fairly confident it wasn't my hardware. I signed into the account online and the Preferences looked right. I made a change and then forced an update via Manager, but the logs showed No Changes to preferences. I had a task that was almost complete so I waited. When it completed it started another task. I opened up the Preferences from BOINC and it had 100% Core usage at 100% of the time. Ever since I had a multi-core processor it's always been set at 62.5%/100%. So why aren't preferences online updating to the Application? I reject your reality and substitute my own boincstats.com |

If you set your preferences locally then it is quite simple , local preferances over ride, but do not over write web set prefences. It is quite possible that the latest version, of the boinc tool will over write any existing settings. You can see in BOINC Manager if you're using the local preferences or the web preferences. Open BOINC Manager->Options->Computing preferences. At the top of this window it shows if you're using local preferences or web preferences. When using local preferences, it says "Using local preferences". When using web preferences, it says "Using web-based preferences from {project URL}". |

Ageless - thank you for the response. I've never noticed this setting previously, or if I had I paid it no attention. It does show "using local preferences". But I like I said this has never been an issue before now and the only thing that changed was I updated BOINC to the latest version. Well they are both set the same and since I posted everything appears to be running like normal. Thank you again for pointing this out :-) I reject your reality and substitute my own boincstats.com |
