I've reported 14 APs since the outrage ended and all have gone into pending. Is this a cause for panic? Yes, I saw that myself about 2 minutes after I posted. After an outage like that, all those results coming in at once, everything gets backed up, and as I said, it takes awhile to settle out. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I'm not half as intelligent as some folk on hear so please bare with me I don't understand a lot. the servers are up and running and dishing out WU's as they become available be patient most WU's are gobbled up right as they become available and it will take a while till the servers have their wu cache build up i alone sucked up a couple thousand WU's since startup on all my machines now multiply that by a couple thousand ppl with high hitting farms if you look at the server status page you will see how many wu's are in the cache and ready to send out http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html I came down with a bad case of i don't give a crap |

I'm not half as intelligent as some folk on hear so please bare with me I don't understand a lot. One of the things that affects the ability to get GPU work is the type of Work Units available. Seti@Home does not control the telescopes it gets data from, we piggy-back off other people's telescope searches. Depending on what kind of search was being done, the Work Units fall into 3 Angle Rate (AR) ranges - Very Low (VLAR, <0.12), Mid-Range (0.12 - 0.99) and Very High (VHAR, aka "Shorties", >1.0). Those numbers are approximate, and from memory. CPUs can handle all three Angle Ranges. Early GPUs would seriously bog down when running VLARs, so the Scheduler was programmed to NOT send VLARs to GPUs. So if we are splitting data from tapes of VLAR searches, GPUs don't get a lot of MB work. That may change soon, since more modern GPUs handle VLARs as well as any other Tasks. ...and there are rumours of that the next generation of GPU applications will enable Nvidia GPUs to crunch VLARs. These applications have been in test over in Beta for some time, and VLARs "go like stink" on a GTX980... Around 20 mins for the VLAR compared to 1 hr 20 mins on CPU on my machine. But they need more ATI users to test the app. I think, it's been a while since I revisited that message board about the app. Anyone else remember more or correctly?? |

Just seen a very strange AP job pop into my queue. ap_22jn08ab_B0_P1_00052_20150819_29490.wu Newly split this morning, and sent out within seconds. But we haven't seen tapes like 22jn08ab being split since, well, 2008 - and I was going to say there was no sign of it on the SSP, until I hit refresh to be sure and it popped up. |

Just seen a very strange AP job pop into my queue. Picked up 4 of those as well, unfortunately they are on a slow machine and probably won't be crunched until this weekend if I remember how long it takes that machine. |

I seem to have picked up about a dozen and half of those as well. Even one CPU task. They must have blown the cobwebs off that tape...... Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

I was just coming here to mention that I thought we had basically completely crunched through all the 08 tapes known to exist.. but it appears I'm not the only one that noticed that. I have three of them at the moment, but it will be ~10 days before I get to them. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

I was just coming here to mention that I thought we had basically completely crunched through all the 08 tapes known to exist.. but it appears I'm not the only one that noticed that. I've got 80-odd AP tasks from June 2008 in my data distribution database, but none from this particular tape - or 22jn08aa, come to that. Looking at the chart, there might be some more lurking - I've got none from 27 June or 30 June, either. |

The splitters are splitting, assimilators assimilating, validators validating, deleters are deleting & files to be purged are being purged. It's way too quiet... Grant Darwin NT |

The 1st time in a while that I've found things actually running and not crashed. ;-) Cheers. |

Now, if someone would just locate and load some AP tapes the world would be right! "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

The splitters are splitting, assimilators assimilating, validators validating, deleters are deleting & files to be purged are being purged. Be careful, mate. Remember the last time you made a statement like that? The servers do see these messages, you know....... (8{) Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |
