Riding a motorcycle is sort of like flying, only in 2D, instead of 3D, plus the speeds are lower I had a Kawasaki ZXR 750 she could do 170mph and she weren't a "modern" machine :-) |

I never ever got on two wheels, except when a past 'friend' scared the crap out of me on his Harley. That was the second time a smart aresed bike rider took me down. The first was back in high school. The arsewhole assure me he was not going to anything funny, and then proceeded to to wheel stands with me on the back. The second time was with a really trusted friend who assured me it was just little run to the bank, no shenanigans. F him too, he screwed me out of several years of my life. Got off the bike and cold cocked him on the spot. I do NOT like bikes anymore. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

there are two handlebar brakes for the front wheels and a foot operated rear brake pedal. Oh and and you twist your right hand for the go thingy. You sure about that? All the bikes I've ridden had 2 handlebars. Left hand for clutch & right hand for front brake. Right hand side had a twist grip for the throttle. Example Oh BTW, most bikes had only the ONE front wheel. They do sometimes have stabilisers for those who cannot handle bikes not sure if I ever saw any on the front wheel though :-) |

I did get my due from that two wheeled bastard though. I told him, you showed me yours, now let me show you mine. '69 Buick Gran Sport 455. There was a road with a rise that I could get all four offa the ground. Jumped it. I scared the crap and piss outta that boy. Literally. Made him clean up the seat. He deserved it. I had four wheels against his two. This is a lame excuse, but an example. Mine was a clean rise over the tracks, and had way more headroom. Mewowheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew..... Damn, dude. Er um, with the greatest of respect to all posters. I don't want this thread to degenerate into bragging about car chases or illegal speeding exploits. If it does I will ask for it to be closed, OK? Lots of cars nowadays are being designed like that Chris and they usually have turbochargers fitted not for performance but for fuel economy reasons , they repeated the Top Gear episode on BBC 3 last night were they ended up at Chernobyl . Can't remember what the cars were but was a Ford , Vauxhall and another make . They were given 21 litre of petrol and were told to try and run out before they got there . Jeremy Clarkson and James May both ended up driving around the town and the nuke reactor and was about 100 miles they had to cover. F1 cars are now "hybrid" cars with 1.6 ltr engine's turbochargers and energy recovery systems, you can't really work on any new car at home coz you need a diagnostic machine to tell what's wrong with it |

My father bought a three cylinder DKW. The 750 cc engine was two stroked and burned gasoline mixed with oil. On downhills the engine would not slow the car and the brake pedal was not in the same position of his former car, a Fiat 500 Topolino Giardinetta. So my father started looking for it and we were driving off a hill. I braked with my left foot (I was sitting right of him) and said a few strong words. At home he complained with my mother that I had not respected him. But I had saved his life and also mine. Tullio |

I was just going to post about what we called Go-Go Mobiles that were all the rage when I lived in Germany. These cars were just for "In Town" driving, and were not allowed on the highways. I always thought they had two cylinder motors in them. |

Three cylinder car engines are more common than you might think. Back in the mid to late '80's Daihatsu put one in a small car and without reference to Wiki, I think it was the Charade. The French have recently been using them too, in a number of cars from Renault and Citroen. On paper a three cylinder engine should be smoother than a four cylinder engine. Personally, I'll be sticking with older V6 cars with character and might in the near future maybe even 12 cylinders. Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

I think taxes are based on power measured in kW now in Italy. Tullio |

smaller engines are usually more efficient which might qualify for a tax break. plus the insurance company might cut you a deal if they think that the car would have a more difficult time breaking the law |

a v8 is two inline fours connected a v12 is two inline sixes connected you're referring to a w8 or w12 |

The Citroen 2CV ‘deux chevaux’ (two horses) was known as the ‘ugly duckling’ Trabant 1.1 :) @Tullio I remember when my dad's DKW got overheated in Switzerland near Jungfrau and we had to walk up to nearest hotel:) |

Lancia Aprilia is the car I remember more. Beautiful handling even on icy roads with Michelin X tyres. It belonged to a friend of mine but, when he was hired by Fiat in Trieste, they would not let him park in the Fiat parking lot and he was obliged to buy a 600. Pfui! Tullio |

I was just going to post about what we called Go-Go Mobiles that were all the rage when I lived in Germany. These cars were just for "In Town" driving, and were not allowed on the highways. My father had one for a few years, it was a real hoot with its two cylinder, two stroke engine, no weight. It was so short it could park across the end of a parking bay without hanging out into the traffic - gave a few traffic wardens a head scratcher :-) Most amusing part was if he put too much oil in the fuel tank - first set of lights it would vanish in a cloud of blue smoke leaving everything else chocking in its wake.
