My '99 Saturn SC-1(140,000 miles) has a timing chain, but I've always had conflicting opinions on whether it ever will need to be changed. I had the serpentine belt replaced about 5,000 miles ago, so I should be good to go on that. I also had a big surprise when a mechanic at the instant oil change place told me my manual transmission fluid should be replaced every 10,000 miles! ~I don't believe that.

But yes, the gearbox oil Hypoy 80 was changed every 10,000 as was the EP 90 in the rear axle.

Hmmm... Well, I need to get my manual out of the glovebox and see what it says. I've always driven sticks, and never thought much about their transmission oil. My first car was a Toyota Celica GT that I bought at around 84,000 miles and sold at around 130,000 miles, then I got a Nissan Sentra that I got at around 120,000 miles, but it's odometer/speedometer cable was broken, so who knows how many actual miles were on it.

A stick?, oh you mean a proper car with three pedals and a gear lever? Why didn't you say so, or if you really have to "A four on the floor" sigh.

If by three pedals you mean clutch, brake and accelerator, yes.

This Saturn I have is the first hydraulic clutch I've owned. My others were cables, and the Nissan's was particularly prone to breaking. I do almost only city stop n' go driving, so I think there's more wear & tear, but I try to avoid using the clutch in traffic by coasting in neutral.

Are motorcycles hard to figure out how to drive? I'm assuming since I know how to shift manually, it would be easier for me to learn.

Driving buses and big long-haul trucks are not for me, but on the other hand, there is some appeal in the idea of being a driver of a tour bus for a rock band. ;~)

In theory bikers should know the Codice della Strada. But they ignore it and when you are in a queue, as in a toll road casello for paying tickets, they overpass you on the left and on the right, while you have to wait for the cars before you to pass the casello. So they are not much loved by motorists.

Riding a motorcycle is sort of like flying, only in 2D, instead of 3D, plus the speeds are lower, having a head on a swivel helps, there are a few drivers out there that just don't look where they're going, like when they change lanes..

From someone who used to ride a motorbike till I had a crash in 2010 , you ain't really got a clue how to ride a motorbike , probably better off you all stick to cars :-)

I have Shimano gears on both ny bykes. With the left hand I control my forward gears and with the right hand the back wheel gears.Left hand also powers the forward wheel brake and right hand the back wheel brake.

You know what happened to me Chris and you've seen my x rays 4 wheels are a lot more stable than 2 . There's plenty of idiots driving cars on the roads :-)

If I ever had a two wheeled motorance, I would not be here talking to you now....
I wrecked enough with four wheels and managed to walk away from all of them and put together another.
Through it all, I managed to keep all of my wheels on the ground and spinning fiercely. Like my crunchers.

Speeds are slower , say what !! I don't call 200 khr doubling is slow mate .

Try and see if you can hang on to a Honda 1100 cc with full throttle.

Most motor bikes are way faster than most cars . And you can take that from someone that did own bikes and has a licence

They hit 300 klm at the Moto GP and that is not flat out.
