More than 1.000 refugees a day now arriving in Greece. A crisis within a crisis. Something like 140,000 already this year. Doctors treating their physical complaints are saying they're all in desperate need of counselling, particularly the kiddies :-( Sounds like refugees to me. To call them anything other than that is a disgrace. We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Apart from pain. And maybe humiliation. And obviously death. And failure. But apart from fear, pain and humiliation, failure and the unknown and death - we have nothing to fear. Who’s with me? |

Sweden's foreign minister, Margot Wallström, recently told The Local: “What if we lived in a war zone? We would also want to flee somewhere safe with our children, or try to secure a future elsewhere. It has to do with whether or not we are serious in the EU about our guiding principles – this will affect our credibility.†http://www.thelocal.se/20150812/refugees-shun-sweden-over-long-waiting-times “Half of all refugees in the world are children and a lot of them come to Europe. The number of children coming to Sweden is connected to the number of children in all of Europe rising dramatically,†Sixty missing in new migrant shipwreck. http://www.thelocal.it/20150812/sixty-missing-in-new-migrant-shipwreck |

On this video footage some Russian kids treat immigrant workers from Southern ex Soviet republics as low as they can. https://youtu.be/dZ1gnEnZtSU "Where are you from? Where were you born? In Tajikistan? Then this is your present from Russia (slaps in a face)". The kid is really young, probably ten or twelve old but bullies a whole bunch of migrant workers, who often treated as slaves as they don't have necessary papers to work and value their income too much to go to police. And that's not only trouble for migrant workers in Russia: Sometimes there are classifieds being posted in Russian cities saying "Would sell asians". Illegal migrant workers being sold as commodity in Russia. |

Some heartening news. Former British soldier is attempting to assist Afghan interpretors - stranded in the camps in Calais - into Britain. These were men promised protection by the British Government during the war in Afghanistan and then abandoned. All visa and asylum requests have been denied, even when their services were made use of by Prime Ministers. Good man. I wish them all well. |

There are more cases:( Former local interpreters who risked their lives working for the British military in Afghanistan have lost their high court challenge to a government assistance scheme they say unlawfully discriminates against them. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/08/uk-court-rejects-afghan-interpreters-discrimination-claims |

From another thread http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=77996&postid=1716597 janneseti wrote: Whats common now is the migration problems in the US and EU. We used to face a much larger issue in that matter than EU does today. We passed NAFTA, much to the hate of many, and there was a giant sucking sound heard around the continent. Massive numbers of illegals in the USA were sucked and vacuumed back to their home countries where they now could find employment that paid enough to live. So much so that México now has the issue the USA had. Its jobs pay so much more than those of many Central American countries it is being over run with illegals. So there is an answer to any immigration crises. Give them good jobs where they are, and they stay put. Kind of a, well, duh! answer. |

So there is an answer to any immigration crises. Give them good jobs where they are, and they stay put. Kind of a, well, duh! answer. Of course. But, there is always a but, there is a population growth in Africa. Not in South America. In only 15 years there will be one billion more Africans. That's a LOT of job to create! Any solutions? |

Birth control? Sooner or later, it has to be strongly considered - globally! Don't take life too seriously, as you'll never come out of it alive! |

Birth control? Sooner or later, it has to be strongly considered - globally! Birth control doesn't work when people are poor. It is "only" Africa and Asia that have a population growth. The solution is to stop poverty. How? How can we make sense of it all. http://www.gapminder.org/videos/dont-panic-the-facts-about-population/ |
