Amtrak train with nearly 200 passengers finally arrives after being stranded for more than 30 hours in Oregon

Nearly 200 people finally arrived at Oregon Station on Tuesday after being stranded more than 36 hours on an Amtrak train in rural Oregon after the train struck a downed tree on Sunday.

The Los Angeles-bound train had left Seattle shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday with 183 passengers on board, but got stuck near the town of Oakridge, about 45 miles south of Eugene, an Amtrak spokesman told OregonLive.

3 dead after two trains crash into vehicle on Long Island

Three people in a vehicle were killed when two trains traveling in opposite directions struck it in Westbury on New York's Long Island on Tuesday, the office of Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

Seven train passengers were taken to hospitals with nonfatal injuries, the governor's office said.

New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority officials said at a Tuesday night news conference that the vehicle's driver was attempting to get around the crossing gates when it was hit by an eastbound train pulling out of the Westbury station struck. A westbound train then hit with the vehicle as well, they said.

There were about 100 people on the eastbound train, and about 800 on the other, officials said.

Cairo station fire: Train crash causes deadly blaze

At least 25 people have been killed and 50 others injured by a large fire at the main railway station in Egypt's capital Cairo, state TV reports.

The National Railway Authority said a train collided with a concrete buffer stop at the central Ramses Station.

The train's fuel tank reportedly exploded after the crash, setting a platform and nearby buildings alight.

first train to cross Canada.

Here in Nashville, Tennessee we also have a restoration of a steam locomotive going on. Old #576 sat in Centennial park for many years. It was one of the last and heaviest of the steam era. She weighs more than 600,000 pounds. She was moved to the Tennessee railroad museum to be restored to operating condition.

Found on the web. A photo of the St. Charles Airline Railroad bridge flyover being constructed, dated July 2nd, 1930. The
flyover was built to eliminate the grade crossing diamonds with the Pennsylvania Railroad tracks leading to Union Station. The 2nd photo shows the condition today, still used by the Canadian National's Illinois Central division. The tracks on the north side of the SCAL are for the Baltimore & Ohio Terminal Railroad, which were constructed shortly later, and now abandoned.

BBC video, Historic chocolate train steams again

A steam locomotive used at Fry's Somerdale chocolate factory has run for the first time in over 60 years.

The Sentinel Shunter moved cocoa, sugar and chocolate around railway sidings near the factory, but it was retired in the 1950s.

After a lengthy restoration costing about £40,000, the engine is once more shunting carriages at the Avon Valley Railway.

Good work HAL. ;-)

I got a Creality Ender 3 Pro a few weeks ago. I have found it does quite a few models pretty good as-is with the standard 0.4mm nozzle. However, I ordered some 0.2mm nozzles to really push it. Will soon see how fine a detail it can do.

Here's some residential propane tanks I tried and they came out fantastic using PLA filament. Other models larger than that are a piece of cake.

Those great look HAL, with some very delicate paint work and/or some stickers they'd look like just the real things.

Here's some items done with the 0.2mm nozzle / gray PLA. Some empty and stocked shelves and 55 gallon barrels. The prints shown are raw and have not been cleaned or sanded. I'm quite pleased with the results. We're down to the level where at least I need to use a magnifying glass to see the details. So basically we have arrived - 3D printing is very usable for creating your own models for n scale model railroads.

I can see why. With that quality of finish at that scale, it will save a lot of time cleaning & finishing them off ready for painting.
