Train Derailment CR 558 @ CR 605- Correction
CORRECTION: This is Kansas City Southern Railroad....NOT Sante Fe railroad

On 09/21/2018 at 11:31 p.m. Emergency Responder's were dispatched to CR 558 @ CR 605 regarding a train derailment. Upon arrival, crews discovered 11 cars derailed. It appears a low lying railway bridge may have been compromised due to heavy rain and flooding waters.

There have been no reported injuries. Upon inspection, there is no evidence of any haz-mat release from the train cars. The area around the crash site will be closed until further notice.

KSC Rail Road response team and management are on scene mitigating the incident presently. We encourage the public to stay away from the area.

Remember the new trains which couldn't run in the North of England? Well, they can't run to the West, either.

Paddington station: Passengers face major disruption

Network Rail said the disruption was caused by "500m of extensive damage caused to overhead power lines in the Hanwell area yesterday evening".

The cable damage was caused by a class 802 Hitachi train which was being tested between London and Bristol.
Oh dear.

Oops...
A Hitachi spokesperson said that "after years of successful testing on the route" it was holding "a full and thorough investigation" to identify the cause of the damage.
Funny that as the 802's only started being built In 2017.

Not to mention that the Paddington route is the latest / last mainline rail route into London to be electrified (and it's still unfinished). You'd have thought that they would have worked out how to do it by now.

The 802 is a derivative of the "Javelin" which has been in service for a few years on HS1, but even so, to talk about "years" testing on the route is a bit of an exaggeration.
I bet it's going to hurt someone's back pocket quite substantially by the time all the penalty charges are sorted out - I wouldn't want to be sitting in the offices of Hitachi Rail, Network Rail Infrastructure, the OLE installers, or any of their collective insurers just now as the bill will be well into six if not seven zeros.

They did. :-)
The Class 802s are broadly identical to the Class 800 bi-mode trains used in the Intercity Express Programme, and are used in a similar way; they run as electric trains where possible, and are equipped with the same diesel generator engines as the Class 800. However, they utilise higher engine operating power – 700 kW (940 hp) per engine as opposed to 560 kW (750 hp) – and are fitted with larger fuel tanks to cope with the gradients and extended running in diesel mode expected on the long unelectrified stretches they will operate on.

By 'know how to do it', I was meaning putting up overhead wires that were robust enough to stand up to the English climate, and make connections with the passing trains that didn't tear the house down.

Britain was slow to electrify (by comparison with our continental European neighbours), but I remember being at boarding school in Cheshire from 1960, arriving at almost exactly the same time as the first stretch from Crewe to Manchester was electrified. We were close enough to see the flashes from the electric sparks light up the night sky.

Lessons learned from day one: start at the far end of the line, so mistakes don't shut down the busiest bit!

Britain's rail ticket-booking systems crashes

Updated Train companies across the UK are unable to take online ticket bookings due to what has been described as a "national issue" with the country's reservation service.

The outage – which appears to have affected all UK train operating companies (TOCs) today – means that users can't book tickets on websites or on mobile apps.

The issues began at about 1030 this morning, according to users who took to Twitter to raise their grievances with the various providers.
