So no use whimpering now. UK should take responsibility for its own deeds.

As you well know, comments of that nature have nothing to do with the current situation in Northern France.

I as well as others would be quite interested to learn your country of birth or residence, which you seem not to want to divulge.

WHY? Weren't you also requested earlier this year to speak for yourself? You have stated many times that such information is no business of anyone else, yet here you are...

...Also, this has been covered in the Europe thread 5 days ago, so why a separate thread?

Care to elaborate Mr Snark? And while you do, care to answer the previous question?

Oh BTW, sorry about the background interference, Muarae3 detecting RFI is down.

Maybe if you stopped being snarky, he might answer. How about answering the question posed to you.

Expecting a miracle are we?

He'd much rather be writing to the newspapers moaning about the likes of you & me instead of attending his local party & attempting to seek answers through them, then brag on here about what he's been doing to "help" the country.

Okay, This has been mentioned on the Transport thread but Monday night shows up the issues with what was discussed in that thread.

Every Driver/Company gets hit with a £2000 fine for every individual found in their vehicle.

The Freight terminal at Calais is a "secure" access one. So will the bureaucrats that failed to do their job get fined £2000 for every person that breached that terminal?

Or will they pass the buck stating it's not their responsibility?

A lot of the present world problems stem from colonial legacy. And didn't the Britons be the worst colonialists of all: large portions of Africa and Middle East, India + Pakistan + Bangladesh, etc. etc.

So no use whimpering now. UK should take responsibility for its own deeds.

+1

Let's not forget the knock-on effect of our present twisted foreign policies in neighbouring regions either.
We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Apart from pain. And maybe humiliation. And obviously death. And failure. But apart from fear, pain and humiliation, failure and the unknown and death - we have nothing to fear. Who’s with me?

Even PM Cameron has admitted, that Britain caused many of world’s problems.

Not Nigel Farange.

Yep, just like their stuck in the mud attitudes towards the EU. "We'll get out when it is no longer beneficial"

Just like the Empire days, rape the colonies of all it's assets & when no longer required, dump them in their own stew.

Now that chicken has come home to roost, just wonder how long will the EU chicken take?

I have a question:

On what grounds are those opposed to the migrants entering Britain opposing them?

That is, why do they consider this a problem?

Well, if you want a rehash of Trumps speech making, ask the question. The answer is always the same. They will take my piece of the pie I'm entitled to by birthright. Or course there will be 10,000 other rationalizations for why they have the issue so they won't have to speak the truth.

Well there are many here who have been told that the law is the law & regardless of how the unwashed feel at ground level, the law is to be obeyed. Okay, I agree with that...

...funny thing though, I also agree with the comments made on a report regarding the Calais issues...

Comment 1
"These so called "ASYLUM SEEKERS" are supposed to claim asylum in the FIRST safe country they come too, dont try telling me they arrived in FRANCE without first travelling through at least 3 SAFE countries.....

Geneva conventions & international law.

"first country of asylum" principle in international law by which countries are expected to take refugees fleeing from persecution in a neighbouring state. This principle has developed so that, in practice, an asylum seeker who had the opportunity to claim asylum in another country is liable to be returned there in order for his or her claim to be determined.

Now lets put every single asylum seeker onto c130 carriers and fly them back to "Poland/Romania/Hungary/Austria/Italy/GERMANY/France" because they ARE SAFE countries what these scroungers have travelled through to reach the UK"

Comment 2
"I love how the UK seem to get the finger of blame pointed at us for this situation. We didn't put all those people there. It's because of uncontrolled borders in Europe and France that they are there. The French need to round them all up , however long it takes and send them all back from whence they came....then for goodness sake set up border controls or it will never end/"

Comment 3
"No immigrant that makes it through the tunnel under these circumstances should even have their status considered. Immigrants should have to apply in a proper fashion, not actually be allowed to storm the borders like an invader and get away with it."

The best comment yet actually came from the Mayor of Calais:-
"Britain has too soft a benefit culture & a lively black market"

But the best comment that gets a 5 star rating from me is: -

"It's time to target the heart of the problem - the PC Brigade."

On what grounds are those opposed to the migrants entering Britain opposing them?

A number of reasons. The moment that any of them set foot on British soil they will claim political asylum. Of course it is nothing of the sort, they are just economic migrants looking for a better quality of life. The law as it stands means that Britain must house and feed them while their case is being considered which could take up to 6 months. Then if agreed they will go on benefits and as in the past send most of it to their families back home, at the taxpayers expense.

If not agreed, they will likely as not just disappear into the system somewhere, but still get free NHS treatment if they fall ill, at the taxpayers expense again.

It is not Britain's fault that they live in crap countries with crap regimes, that is the worlds fault for letting it happen. We do not see why we should have to pick up the pieces. Unfortunately we are a soft touch because of successive namby pamby governments (coalition included) that wouldn't deal with the issue. These migrants know that, and so do the people smugglers.

If they were all sent back immediately they landed, and the word went out that the barriers are up, we wouldn't have this Euro tunnel transport problem every few days. I'm very much afraid that I have to agree with much of what Sirius says, it may not be pc to say what he says but is the truth.

Unfortunately I do not like saying it. However, I see this crap most days, yet see the jobsworths hit on us & if we argue, even if the law is on our side, they call a police officer over. That officer probably had a long day & more often than not, I get this: -
"No need to get aggressive, just do as you're told" Aggressive, I as well as other drivers were just pointing out the errors that VOSA(DVSA) were making.

The main problem with the Tunnel is profits which is what was presented to those in power to get the damn thing built in the 1st place.

2002

We're in the money....2010

Now if only they reopen the Felixstowe to Zeebrugge run, Calais can be sidelined so no more lorries getting hit on by illegals :-)

Edit:
The times I've been to Zeebrugge, the port authorities there brooked no nonsense. However, we've moved on a few years so wonder what would be the attitude of the Belgians should Zeebrugge become a "Calais"?

Speaking to LBC, Nigel Farage has called for the Army to be drafted in to help search vehicles coming into Britain for illegal immigrants.
The leader of the UKIP party added:
"There needs to be a bigger, stronger message coming from Britain that anyone that comes through this route will not be allowed stay."

What does this sound like?
Germany in the 30's?

The migration of refugees from the Middle East are mostly affecting Italy and Germany.
Why?

Really? So why are there refugee camps at Calais & not Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven, Salerno, Naples, Bari, Taranto? They can give Anzio a miss, more than likely too many unexploded German & Allied shells remaining in the ground :-)

UNHCR says this.
http://tracks.unhcr.org/2015/07/the-sea-route-to-europe/
Data received from Greece, Italy, Malta and Spain charted a staggering 83 per cent increase in refugees and migrants crossing the Mediterranean from January to June – 137,000 compared to 75,000 in the same period last year.
Many travels through Hungary to Germany.
Now Hungary are building fences around their country.
Now UK resists to accept refugees.
Where should refugees go?

<grin>

The above, and Sirus B's response in
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=77826&postid=1706373#1706373
sound VERY familiar.

We have the same situation over here, only somewhere between 50 and 100 times the number of people per year.

And I agree. It is not PC to say it, but it IS the truth.

Our southern border and coast is the 'eurotunnel' writ EXTREMELY LARGE.

It will be interesting to see how you deal with the eurotunnel mess. Maybe we can learn something on how to deal with our own mess from you guys.

Well my solution is a simple one but the PC Brigadiers won't accept it.

You want to live here? Okay, sign this (5 year enlistment in the army), survive that & we'll give you a passport.

Bad news though, when you finish your training, your 1st posting is Afghanistan.
