You may find that it was not intended to be all that funny.... I watched it all painfully to the end, but I don't have a theory on that ending yet. I now sort of remember some movie posters of a man and an umbrella, and I know it's sort of a famous film. Overall though, I felt it was kind of maudlin(and not in a good way, ;~). I did think that during the movie Chance appeared child like, and with out any evil intent or malice. I must say the grave side scene was very reminiscent of what the big government establishment looks like it is trying to do with Donald Trump right now. edit: I was glad I saw it.... I did think that during the movie Chance appeared child like, and with out any evil intent or malice. Considering the innocent way Chance was portrayed, the ending didn't surprise me that much. That actually was one of the best parts of the movie for me because it left something to the imagination. I just think they overplayed whatever statement they were trying to make during the general exposition of the film, and could have edited it down quite a bit.
