I've been watching the new Sci-Fi series/seasons: The Orville (third season, now on Hulu and not nearly as funny as the first two seasons); Star Trek Strange New Worlds (where the biggest star is Pike's hair ?); Obi-wan Kenobi (on Disney+, IIRC)

I'm enjoying all of them. I've been following discussions of the first two on Facebook. Most people like the shows but have problems with certain things that don't bother me at all, like how different STSNW is from ST-TOS and the lack of humor on Orville that was present in the first two seasons. Most of the things that people are complaining about are things I either don't notice or don't care about.

By today's standards quite excessive, but by the standards of Birmingham and the Black Country back in the day quite restrained.

Well, I've cut the cord - again. I have to get rid of a few bills so the DirecTV service had to go. Problem is, I can't find an indoor antenna that will receive all my "local" stations. These stations are located in Waco and Temple and I am located in Gatesville. Right now all I'm able to receive is ABC and its .2, .3, .4 channels. I can't get NBC, CBS, or any of the other independent channels in the area. I may try an outdoor antenna, but not right now. If any of you are using an outdoor antenna, please let me know how that's working for you. But I'm out in the boondocks, so it's not like it would be if I were in or near a big city.

For now I'll be watcing a lot of ABC and streaming channels (Netflix and Hulu, mostly).

While I'm in the big big city I'm in a weak signal fringe area. Outdoor antenna is the only way to get many of the channels. Still can't get a couple. Oh, why a fringe area in Pasadena - Los Angeles? I'm too close so there is a mountain ridge that blocks line of sight to Mount Wilson where the transmitters are located. However that outdoor antenna happily picks up the stations in San Diego and Riverside. Not having looked at a Texas map, you may need an antenna rotater to point it at the two different cities. In my case San Diego is the exact opposite direction and the antenna picks up a bit of signal exactly opposite and the route is over the Pacific Ocean. All I can guess is a "side lobe" happens to point towards Riverside because I shouldn't get that signal off the side and it has to go the length of a valley so it really is a happy accident.

A mile south of me and a paperclip is a fine antenna!

Well, of course. But "What Are You Reading?" is a completely different thread. Here we're talking about "watching." But thanks for the suggestion.

@ Suzie-Q
Finding and using a antenna can be frustrating. But YouTube has a answer for you. You just have to wade through the videos on the Antenna Man channel. Just subscribe to get all his videos together in a list. This is a antenna I use. I do live in town in a apartment. The transmitter towers are a fair ways off so it is hit and miss on some stations. Indoor/Outdoor uhf/vhf hdtv antenna Clearstream MAX-V

Night Sky on Amazon's Prime Video

I was a little disappointed in the ending. They never really explain what all is going on. And there won't be a second season because Amazon Prime isn't happy with the viewership of season one. Too expensive to produce given the low numbers. Bummer.

Trying to see if I can stay awake long enough to finish watching "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story".

[edit] But somehow I don't think that I'm going to make it that far (this time).

Cheers.

Got into ClickBait on Netflix, and I'm not regretting it. I'm on episode five of eight and dying to find out what happened to the guy.

"When family man Nick Brewer is abducted in a crime with a sinister online twist, those closest to him race to uncover who is behind it and why."

A father goes missing, only to appear in a viral video holding a sign saying that he will die if the video receives 5 million views. The series is set in Oakland, California.
