I watched "2001: A Space Odyssey" again last night, and while I do like the film, I still think some of the scenes drag on way too long. On the other hand, one of my favorite scenes in the movie is when HAL is lip-reading the astronauts plotting against him.

I watched a very strange movie last night, called "Demon Seed". It was like a low-budget cross of HAL from 2001, and Rosemary's Baby.

The Death Star is now in orbit...

Seriously I'm watching the KTLA 5 News, weather is on and they're talking about IRMA...

Next after IRMA is JOSE...

I'm glad I live in California.

The Southeast looks doomed.

Just watched the Goodyear blimp circle around for a landing at the small airport near my house. Quite a surreal sight.

The Orville on Fox. I watched the first episode (pilot) and enjoyed it.

Me too, that other ship got the point of the redwood real quick, but then they asked for it.

Eric and I watched it last night. Eric is willing to give it a chance, but I was not impressed. It was billed as a Star Trek spoof comedy, but I felt it failed on all fronts. It lacked the gravitas of Star Trek and as for the comedy aspects, I rarely laughed.

Not everything Seth MacFarlane touches turns to gold. Who knew???!!!

Well it was ok, spoof? Yeah, it can't call itself StarTrek, or Seth would be sued by CBS/Paramount, which wants Discovery to succeed on the CBS all access website, I'll watch the opening episode of Discovery that will be on CBS TV, but I won't waste $5.99 on the rest on that website, being on TWC most sites say I can't watch their streaming site, Spectrum merger or not.

That said, the Krill were fools to take a device aboard their ship and not think that the device wouldn't be used as a booby trap against them. They definitely got wood, the hard way.

Is this the one that's going to CBS All Access(whatever that is?) after the regular tv premiere?

Parody is protected, so Paramount would probably not have much of a case.

Yes, it is, it's not like I wouldn't watch the show, I just don't want to spend what little I get on TV, the money is needed elsewhere, I started watching StarTrek in the 1st season, before Star Trek went into reruns.

I agree. It's a bait and switch thing to me. I won't allow them to get me hooked on something for free and then charge for it.

Yes, I do know that, even if it is parody, it is like StarTrek, without being StarTrek, it's only 13 episodes, though I'm more interested in how successful Discovery will be, more than Orville will be.
