so... Cops without guns and a dictatorship, by anyone -- left or right, is hard to do isn't it? There are many nuances that binary thinkers can't grasp.

Ozzfan--Berlin wall analogy? Really? And that didn't work because the east Berliners couldn't stop the invasion from the west? Yes, Berlin wall analogy because it is the perfect analogy. It was put up by a fascist regime, just as Trump or Cruz would do. It did work for as long as it was up. But while it was up, it only angered the people until they tore it down. Walls are not the answer. Walls are never the answer. Learn from history and try something else. Oh wait, you want to turn back the clock by 100+ years because you believe that is when America was last great. 100 years ago the Berlin wall didn't exist, so it would be a new idea for someone like you. Still doesn't work and is still a terrible idea. |

Gary is not nuanced. There aren't enough electrons in the universe to list where you are incorrect, but that is beside the point. You being fully indoctrinated in the absolute union leftist positions, can't see anything except through those glasses ... The nuance is that on the list of things that society has for police, I place the safety of the public higher than I place the safety of an individual officer. If that individual officer does not has ready access to a weapon then he will not endanger the public waving it around every opportunity he gets.

Donald Trump has lost the battle against the power company Swedish Vattenfall AB. For years, he tried to stop their wind farm in Scotland, because they would interfere with the view from his golf course. But Britain's highest court rejects his appeal:) Trump's companies have appealed against the state by all Scottish courts, but lost. Therefore they went to Britain's highest court, hoping to unravel decision. Perhaps Trump's neighbours should also bring Trump to court for interfering with their view that is now blocked... |

Gary... Wouldn't that mean he's more of a centrist than you seem to think or give him credit for? Perhaps his views are rather nuanced depending on the topic. Dare I say much like quite a few of us that you've placed on the left based upon an incorrect (and incomplete) notion of our views? |

Any comments regarding this Subject? The world never learns. The Berlin Wall proved that walls are a dumb idea and people (future generations) don't want them. WWII proved that punishing the innocent for the acts of the extreme is a really, really dumb idea. Nobody learned. People are scared and are looking to someone willing to sell them on safety and protection, in much the same way Mussolini rose to power. We are doomed to repeat history and get set back by ~100 years if Trump gets into the White House. |

The text is based on the poem "First the came" by Martin Niemöller. He is best known for his statement, "First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist ...... and there was no one left to speak for me." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Niem%C3%B6ller No wonder that the Donald denies his german background. |

Gary... Could it be that the Daily News is the voice of "The Left"? I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

Everyone on these forums, according to CLYDE and his ilk (yes, that includes Guy), are on the left. Meanwhile real lefties like Es99 and Angela Korpela are shaking their heads in bewilderment. |

Except that Gary is not on the left. Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes. |
