SETI@home: Notice from BOINC Your app_config.xml file refers to an unknown application 'astropulse_v7'. Known applications: 'setiathome_v8' Wed 03 Jan 2018 07:53:33 AM CET This on my main Linux box Tullio |

#tullio Probably nothing wrong with your app_config.xml -- I have had similar "error" messages when the app_info.xml file was messed up and there was not a proper <file_info> or <file_ref> xml tag for the astropulse_v7 executable. Or maybe the actual executable got deleted somehow. Stuff happens... |

Since the statement has been made there is no more Arecibo work in hopper, or available, I would say the future of this thread is also in grave doubt......... "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Since the statement has been made there is no more Arecibo work in hopper, or available, I would say the future of this thread is also in grave doubt......... Plenty of AP resends still to come, then people can discuss how long it was since they last had an AP WU, and how much Credit they gave compared to MB.. I reckon it's got years of life, even if there is no more AP data to be split. Grant Darwin NT |

Since the statement has been made there is no more Arecibo work in hopper, or available, I would say the future of this thread is also in grave doubt......... I'm reasonably sure that it was mentioned they wanted to do AP for GBT data as well. The first step requires the guys in the lab have the time to write the new splitter code, or have the budget for interns to tackle it. Until that is done working on an app to processes non existent workunits wouldn't be much of a priority. I thought it was Raistmer that wrote the code? Or did he just modify it to run on OpenCl?? |

I thought it was Raistmer that wrote the code? Or did he just modify it to run on OpenCl?? Multiple authors over time for the Windows and Linux apps. AstroPulse v7.08 for Linux Linux 64 bit, Rev 2751, OpenCL version by Raistmer, GPU mode V7, by Raistmer ported to Linux by Lunatics.kwsn.net team. by Urs Echternacht ffa threshold mods by Joe Segur AstroPulse v7 Windows x86 rev 2887, V7 match, by Raistmer with support of Lunatics.kwsn.net team. OpenCL version by Raistmer ffa threshold mods by Joe Segur SSE3 dechirping by JDWhale Combined dechirp kernel by Frizz But as Hal has said, not much point in developing a new V8 AP app if there aren't any V8 AP tasks being split. The splitter code is written by the project scientists. We would need to use some of our donation pledges to hire a temp intern to write the new splitter code. The first step requires the guys in the lab have the time to write the new splitter code,Am I taking too simplistic a view when I say the code should be pretty similar provided the input data is just from a different source? Go ahead, slap me if I'm asking a 'stupid question'. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

I think it is not that easy. Best people to ask are the Seti Beta testers who were around for the MultiBand transition from V7 to V8. I would think the process to be similar with whatever monkey wrench the difference in file format for GBT tasks will throw in. Go ahead, slap me if I'm asking a 'stupid question'. Even for those cases where things are mostly the same, just some minor differences, there are times where those very slight differences can make the difference between requiring minor changes, and having to start from scratch, or somethings somewhere in between. We can also complain about why nobody is making an app for AP for work from GBT or Parkes. $ |

I thought it was Raistmer that wrote the code? Or did he just modify it to run on OpenCl?? IIRC a grad student wrote the code some years ago, |
