So what is simply going the wrong way?

Nothing is going wrong, IIRC when Seti sees 2 processors asking for data it will send data to the more powerful processor until it reaches it's cache limits before it sends work to the lesser processor. In this case your GPUs are more powerful than your CPUs.

There is a lot wrong, see this log:

It states, there is no Astropulse work available, but i have set to allow MB if AP is not available, i even have set to allow MB now and i even get no MB work at all. Sorry, there is something going definitely wrong here...

Until you fill your GPU cache with what ever is available APs or the alternate MBs nothing will be sent to your CPU, your log states that you are not asking for MBs.

Emphasis by me.
That is exactly the problem, i'm asking for MB also, it is also tagged in the preferences, but the server simply ignores it!!!
Got me?

What you might try on computer 157931 to see what happens is uncheck "Use NVIDIA GPU" under "SETI@home preferences". You have 123 GPU tasks so the GPUs should be busy for a time while you get some tasks for the CPU.

Edit: One other thing that might work and not let your GPUs run out of tasks is to lower the "Store at least" figure to .25 and set "Store up to an additional" to 0. I have found that brings down some CPU tasks after there is .25 days work of GPU downloaded even though the 100 WU limit for GPU has not been reached.

I'm currently having a similar problem with GPU MBs. I'm down to my last few GPU APs and the Server is determined not to send any GPU MBs. After trying every trick for the last hour, I managed to have it send 2 (two) GPU MBs. Now with the same settings that netted those two (2) GPU MBs it is again refusing to send any MBs.

I kept my machine requesting APs until my cache was very low to pick up any straggler APs. Since I have started taking MBs this evening I have been only receiving or two at a time when I able to receive any. Normally when my cache is very low I receive slugs of 20 or more WUs. Perhaps it is only that the SETI servers are not up to par and everyone is feeling the pinch.

I usually receive slugs of a hundred if I set the cache much over 0.4 days. At that level I usually don't hold more than 100 unless there's lots of shorties. Which is what makes this so unusual. I'm still not getting any tasks even though it is asking for more;

Hello?!

Nobody has the same problem? What have i done wrong?! :?
Dammit, this meanwhile sucks big time! :((

I only run Seti & only MB & are presently up to the limits for both CPU & GPU.

EDIT- they were presently up to the limits.
Now, often the response is "This computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress"

That is BOINC speak for we have nothing available for your GPU at this time.
Just had a look, and it appears there's another VLAR storm, hence lack of work for GPUs. Every so often 5-10 download at a time when reporting 1-3 tasks.

Further edit- if you don't already have GPU work, the odds of you getting any until the VLAR storm clears are closer to non-existent than slim, unless you keep clearing the GPU work request backoff manually to allow the system to keep trying for GPU work.

I also ran out of AP & MB GPU task. It would not give me any. I had to set my pref to ATI GPU's only and up my cache to 2 days & 2 days. it took a couple hours but I finally got 30 of them, that is only like 3 to 4 hours worth. Never had this happen, the server must be a little off.

Bob, change your settings to 2 days and .1 days. You will ask for WUs more often this way. (I have mine set to 0.01 actually)

The first number is the size of cache. The second is effectively how often your system will check to see if there is any work available.
So having "2+2" means you have a two day cache, and your system will only check every two days, and will then try and get two days worth of data. If you had say "2+0.1" your system would have a two day cache, but would check every 2.4hours to see if you need work, and, provided the servers have work would try to get enough work to fill your cache to 2 days worth of work. Obviously if you reduce the "0.2" to a smaller figure the check will be more frequent, and your cache will be more consistently topped up

Now i have 128 tasks (just received 4 new) for the GPUs and not a single WU for the CPU. This has happened before and is definitely a server fault.

So Seti doesn't like my CPU anymore, ok, Milkyway (my backup project) appreciates my contribution.

Meanwhile this pile of bugs sucks big time...

Ran out of GPU work about an hour ago, GPU crunching away on new back up project.

CPU still full with VLARs. Seems that is all they ever run now.

Will have to wait and see what happens with MB for GPUs

For me it is exactly the other way around:
The CPU is crunching on backup, because the server does not send any work.
The GPUs are happily crunching away MBs and getting new ones, but my CPU is ignored by the server.
