Been hanging around here since 18 May 1999, still chugging along.... Even if I rarely don't say anything :)

Tomorrow is my 16th and to celebrate I made a modest donation to the cause. I ask all you 16 year olds to donate, all it take is a min of $10 and a credit card. That is such a small amount that if you live in a part of the world where you can't claim it on your taxes why would you care? Yet if enough of you without green stars contribute you will make a difference.

My turn.

I wasn't going to donate as I thought I already donate through my increased electric bill and the extra wear & tear on the rig. Once I started pondering it though I thought even on my limited budget i can do an extra month of electric in a donation. When I saw that only .012 percent of the crunchers donate I was surprised. Anyways betreger I took up your request and donated a modest sum. Heck it could even be penance for missing the last few years..lol

I also would like to challenge the 16+ crowd to throw a few bucks in the kitty, so to speak.

Bob

16 years was two jobs and a retirement ago! :-)

Same for me! I still remember my old overclocked Slot A Pentium II struggling to crunch Classic SETI WUs, it's air-cooler whining away at max RPM trying to keep the CPU temperature reasonable. Congratulations to all my fellow 16-Year crunch buddies.

Wow, I forgot that I joined on May 20th 2009.

Happy anniversary to you all.

Mike

I think you meant May 20th 1999... :)

An interesting stat for the Class of 1999-05-20, of the 2,236 users
registered that Day, 350 are still banging away... :)

Out of my class of 1999-09-11 with 2865 users. Only about 400 were returning results in 2004. Then 272 moved over to BOINC. With about 50 still being active today. :/

Hal, How do you find out about how many are still crunching? Id like to know a how many in my class still crunch?

I looked at the class stats.

Thanks Hal. My class had 1792 people sing up that day. I started at the bottoma and worked up and it took until #310 to finf and active cruncher. And there are many who dont crunch in between.

That's interesting. There were 618 people that started the same day as me. For several years I was #1 but dropped to #2 when GPU crunching took over. But I am catching up again!

Congrats to all of you. Well done/

Yes, who would have thought I'd still be here 16 years later, and not a peep! Well, with any luck maybe the next 16 years will prove more fruitful, with $100M thrown in the pot, and Kepler starting to give us some juicy targets.

Congratulations and commiserations to all those who have stuck with it through the good times and the less so good times....

Cheers,

Brett

Out of the 190 that joined the day I did (11/7/1999) 26 have done something in the past month. Past day is a much shorter list. And I'm still #1 in total contributions for that class. :-)

I wonder if we actually see anything of that money for seti to do some much needed upgrades and software development

It seems that looking for ET seems again to become more popular these days
