A repeat of the Microsoft IE6 browser war and stagnation of old?

Is Google purposefully breaking Microsoft, Apple browsers on its websites?...

Google's doing to Microsoft what Microsoft did to everyone in the 1990s, allegedly

Analysis In what can only be described as painfully ironic, Microsoft engineers are seemingly convinced that Google is making changes to its websites in order to break rival browsers. [For example from my interpretation: Youtube being 'unsympathetic' and 'proprietary' to in effect cripple the rendering speed and downgrade the display functionality for non-Chrome browsers...]

Why not when that is so easy to do when both the web content and the web browser are controlled as an effective monopoly by the one corporation?...

All by whose web standards?

And why not when such unhelpful activity is so easily plausibly denied...

IT is what we allow it to be...

Too hot for the Transport thread.

Will it take an accident before laws toughened up?

Technology may have improved our lives over the years, but it cannot improve one's lack of brain cells.

The fallout has created widespread alarm politically. Robert Habeck, leader of the Greens, deleted both his Twitter and Facebook accounts on Monday after being affected by the data breach.

Love too, but ... this machine is the office file server. Oh, a downdate got file sharing back, but it looks like I'm going to have to reenter all the custom firewall settings again to get the accounting software to play clean - up in cripple mode which is all I need for a couple of days.

If I could just get the boss to not surf with this machine I'd set it to no update, but he won't leave it alone!

OBW it is a Win 7 machine, so it isn't just 10 they FU

In time, we're likely to see a transition from one-off payments to "iPhone as a service" in which most consumers pay a subscription and get a new phone regularly.
They're kidding, right?

No. Monthly revenue stream is much sexier to a wall street banker.

So Apple is stopping it. Does the silence mean Google isn't?

fun looking at log files ....
so just who is doing funny things? why oh why is someone doing port scans on my IP? There are only a very few ports open through my firewall and none of them are the privileged ports (1-1024)
So just who is banging on my oddball port anyway? Getting lots of hits from IP's belonging to China. Getting lots from Russia and Latvia. Getting some hits from the UK. Did see a hit from a university that had a pointer they were mapping the net. What I'm not getting is any hits from America.
I just have a feeling that some governments are mapping things so they can attack.

I mean I don't really mind if they want to talk to the game I have running on my Raspberry Pi, but don't just ring the doorbell and run away. Play it.

LONDON (AP) — A hacking group has targeted European democratic institutions including think tanks and non-profit groups ahead of highly anticipated EU parliamentary elections in May, Microsoft said.

The company said Tuesday that a group called Strontium targeted email accounts for more than 100 people in six European countries working for the German Council on Foreign Relations, the Aspen Institutes in Europe and the German Marshall Fund.

Microsoft said in a blog post that it is continuing to investigate but is confident many of the attacks originated from Strontium, a group that others call Fancy Bear or APT28. U.S. authorities have tied the group to Russia’s main intelligence agency, known as the GRU.

Triton is the world’s most murderous malware, and it’s spreading
The rogue code can disable safety systems designed to prevent catastrophic industrial accidents. It was discovered in the Middle East, but the hackers behind it are now targeting companies in North America and other parts of the world, too.
