FOSS Operating systems and softwares have served me well for many years. I will not be deterred by naysayers. The issues that arise within for-profit companies due to *their* choice to use GPL code with their own code- are the problem of those companies. (And Oracle java is not the only java out there, there are other java environments that are truly open source. Just sayin'.) #resist |

Yet you insist that others work for free. If you aren't willing, who will? Or do you want non-professional software on your system? That can still include complete freedom as demanded by Free/Libre Open Source Software/Systems.I'm so glad you will work for free. Where do you send you paycheck? |

My professional time comes at a cost and is charged.Yet you insist that others work for free. If you aren't willing, who will? Or do you want non-professional software on your system? Or worse, CIA software :-) "Likewise, the Linux Foundation has yet to publicly react to claims the agency had created "attack and control systems" that could hijack computers powered by Linux-based software." And while also taking the time at reading the news, perhaps do not forget those weird or crazy scientists either. |

"Likewise, the Linux Foundation has yet to publicly react to claims the agency had created "attack and control systems" that could hijack computers powered by Linux-based software." There a bit slow , one word "Stuxnet" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuxnet Linux based and they still haven't said much about weather they have come up with a fix for it . Most systems with Linux based system have many "0" day hacks that can be used or even known vulnerability's. Linux is not very safe really |

And by means of being a scientist rather than a politician, such a thing could still be about a given Governance? |

â€IoT†– Internet of Things. New acronym to remember. That our appliances and gadgets are to be connected to the Internet is a development that the mobile Internet industry strived for several years. It is about from televisions to vacuum cleaners, clocks, cars, washing machines and flower pots that should be able to "talk" with each other and with us via the Internet. |

â€IoT†– Internet of Things. And be broken into so they can be leveraged against us and made to spy upon us or even attack us. Just think, you are a nasty vile person and you break into all the IoT thermostats with their identical password. You dump your malicious code into them. You decide to attack us by having them all turn on at exactly the same second. Can you imagine what that does to the power grid with all those motor starts at exactly the same second? BAM! Instant blackouts and cascade failures across the country. Then with the load gone all the power plant generators over speed and tear themselves apart before their automatic shutdown engages. Good for a few weeks of terror, and there is no fix for it! Oh can you live without electricity for a month? No electricity means no refrigerator for you or the supermarket. No electricity means no gas pump. It means no water pump so no water to your house. It means no pumps to supply pressure to natural gas. Can you live without electricity for a month? Can your country survive a month without electricity? |
