Damn, I haven't posted in almost four months. I think to say "I've been busy" is a bit of an understatement. :^p I have a lot of catch-up reading to do. On March 19, I wrote: Took sixteen years to get this done... Happy to have done it and 85 days ahead of schedule... sixteen years to my first hundred million, and just 280 days to the second. Onward to the third!

Ah well, she has a point...the bill jumped over double I too have to dial things back a bit. Thankfully with BOINC manager, you can set hours so 1 of my machines only crunches 16 hours a day, and on 2 others I'm using 2 less CPUs now. So over the next month or 2, I will be working on getting the electric bill down to something a little more manageable. Worst case I set all machines to crunch just 12 hours a day. ~Chris

My slightly older Linux server has reached 50 M credits! I recently had to upgrade it to Scientific Linux CERN 6 because a certain security update was not being released for SLC5. I had to remove a first-generation Nvidia Tesla C1060 because it's not compatible with the latest drivers and CUDA release, while the second GPU (a Palit GTX460 which runs fanless with forced cooling due to the fan disintegrating when I accidentally touched it with my finger when it was running -- I never felt a thing!) is still soldiering on. I tried putting a fanless Gigabyte GTX 550 Ti in it (Gigabye fans fail far too often in my experience) but it's not being recognised so I guess it was fried when the fans gummed up. I've had a lot of computer failures lately, plus I'm running some machines on CMS@Home, which I help manage, so my total RAC has been taking a beating. :-(
