Men are the problem right ! well doing crap like that only turns men off the whole thing , they stop listening . You wont get men to change there attitude doing stupid things like that or what Geer does . In fact it only cements men's attitude of women being stupid and can't control there thoughts or actions so need to be controlled .

Seriously?

Funny how men do 'stupid' stuff everyday and their whole gender doesn't get judged on it.

When God ceated man she was having a bad hair day.

Well all men know that women look down their noses at men as "things" to be tolerated in "their" world. Let's face it we get told that enough all the time around here.

Perhaps we should have an against all men thread?

All a question of culture and upbringing and in our modern times, what the media feed people.

For just one example as seen in the UK Daily Mirror tabloid newspaper, the Andy Cap cartoon strip in there makes for some very dismal jaundiced stereotypes against the presumed husband and wife that are just too depressing to be funny. And yet... Does that mirror that readership?

Our present negatively sensationalist media certainly do not help in showing how people should be better treated or viewed, for both men and women. However, women do seem to get portrayed in a worse and more frivolous light. So much so that becomes the expectation?...

All men really?

I have to say that of the women I have met both personally and professionally, I cannot think of any that "look down their noses at men as "things" to be tolerated in "their" world."

I must be mixing with the wrong sort of women then.

I would say that the Mirror does appeal to the Midlands working class yes.
Andy Capp

So the Mirror is not read in London or the South, or the South East, or the South West or further North?

For someone who has publicly stated that they stand up for Britain when it gets knocked...

...with an attitude such as that, no wonder women have a tough time.

My comment was of course sarcasm. :-)

I meant "wrong sort of women" by your standards.

Right sort of women by mine. (The women of course could well be the same)

I have treated women as equals since 1979, I wonder if that is why maybe I see things differently.

As someone here might say, comments were predictable and...

I hate fake boobs. I don't understand if this is really a thing men supposedly like as nearly everyone I talk to doesn't like them either. Women should stop doing this and most other cosmetic surgery immediately!

Right, so the guys you talk to don't like boob jobs so women should be stop having cosmetic surgery in order to stop offending your male sense of taste? I hope you realize how incredibly sexist that is.

Its been noted that cosmetic surgery can have a very positive effect on a person's sense of self worth.

Yes. Self esteem is very important factor.
But if something goes wrong with the "cosmetic" surgery...

Why only since then? I have treated them as equals since 1944.

I think you will find several women who will disagree with that as you don't seem to be treating them as equals now.

I assume you do not remember this comment you made to me when discussing the word "manager"

Managers are male, Manageresses are female. Administrators or Supervisors can be either. It is just words at the end of the day. I encountered many androgynous females in my time working for an ex Civil Service outfit, that wanted to play that game. They got short thrift from me. They were females and they got treated as such, none of this modern pc rubbish for me.

And women don't mix with the wrong sort of men.

Then assume all/most men are like 'them'?

That is a valid point. I take care to surround myself with good men and my life is better for it. However, it has taken me years to figure out how to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Unlike in the 1950s and 1960s, men these days have to be judged on their actual merit to impress a woman. Its not enough any more to simply be male. There are some that are still upset about this and they then go around accusing the women who challenge them on their sh*t of being man haters.

I don't hate men, I hate a**holes.

Yes I do. Got a problem with that?

1944? that's not possible, you were not long born, so according to your statement, you were born with full intelligence & knowledge of life? Pure B/S.

As for your 2nd statement, I don't have a problem whatsoever, just cannot stop roflmao at your constant inconsistencies.

All I see is someone with very large chips on their shoulders & the worst sexist on these boards.

Well there you have it guys, I couldn't have put it better myself. We are not worthy of their attention. Perhaps the women of other star systems are more friendly? Hurry up Seti !!!

Chris, do you feel that being male should be enough to make up for any flaws in your character?

Yes of course I do. I knew a couple that wore two piece suits and tried the macho approach. They got treated as equals with any other male manager. If they cocked up they got the same treatment. Of course there was a measure of politeness, as in if I disagreed with an annual appraisement I could say to a male boss, look mate, I'm not having any of that alter it or else. To a woman boss it was, I'm sorry but I am not prepared to sign it as it stands.

So, another poster taking the time and trouble to look through all of my old posts looking for things to comment upon. Sounds to me like a group attempt to disparage me. Carry on by all means.

I did not need to look through your old posts the comment "They got short thrift from me. They were females and they got treated as such, none of this modern pc rubbish for me." Struck me as quite unreal and I kept it.

"They were female and got treated as such", not, they were treated the same as the male managers which is now what you say you meant.

What I am trying to say is that if you were brought up in the 50's as I was there is absolutely no way women were treated as equals. My father worked and earned the money my mother stayed at home and brought up the children.

That was how it was. In 1979 While working for BT a female friend of mine asked me if she thought becoming an engineer would be possible. I said go for it.

Do you know what happened I was called aside by my boss a couple of weeks later and asked if I knew the female who had applied to become an engineer I said I did and was told in no uncertain terms that this was a very bad idea and they were going to have to find a way to make sure it didn't happen.

That was when I started to question what I believed about women.

Sexism was rife in all the big companies and yet you apparently didn't notice. I worked for BT for 22 years and never had a female boss or even worked with any female engineers.

An excellent post. For me Bernie, it wasn't 1979 but December 26th 1976. That was the day that women on the railways achieved equal status with men.

Many a man was knocked back because of seniority. That was the name of the game back then & I personally had no issue with that. If a woman had more service than me, if she qualified as a driver, she should get the job before me. It meant that I got rated later than what I would have done if that law had not been introduced.

Personally, they did the job just as good as men.

Now let's look into History - Just who took the place of men in important industries during WW1 & II?

They did a good job then, so was surprised to see it only become law in 1976!

Queen Elisabeth II was helping driving lorrys to assist people in need.
Madame Curie was driving with her X-ray machine near the front.

Ah Sir Galahad. Surprising considering your recent comments.

You were not there I was, you only saw one side of the company, I saw both.

So because you saw both, you deem his views/opinions of what he saw as invalid?
Damn you really do live in a tight cloistered world, mainly of your own making.
