Yes I did read the fuller reviews. But overall I'm not tempted to go and see it, just not my type of movie. Although I did enjoy the Alien series. That sounds a lot like the motivation of the male character in Interstellar. Reality Internet Personality |

Ah yes, Germaine Greer. I remember her well. Being abused and spat on by many other Aussie women in the streets (the real reason that she had to leave these shores, not because of us men) because they blamed her, and her vinegar crew (the name given to them by other women), for setting back the Women's Equality Movement at that time by years because of their over the top militant and controversial Women's Liberation views. The Women's Equality Movement (a very large peaceful group) wanted nothing at all to do with the Women's Liberation Movement (an extremely small aggressive group) and they were very vocal about (in fact there were many altercations between the 2 groups). The 60's in Sydney were certainly very entertaining with the cat fights on the streets. These days she only pays us very short occasional visits because a lot of women here still feel the same way about her now as they did back then and she always seems to get caught out lying on those visits by those she claims to be helping. Cheers. |

Not wanting to distract from some good discussion... A strong part of this story does appear to be how our culture and religion and Marketing shape how we view others, with women and minorities not getting the best of attention... Until more recently with some examples in more enlightened times?... A few recent examples: Mad Max: Fury Road's strong women won't surprise true genre fans Bloggers in the US are angry that Charlize Theron’s one-armed driver takes centre stage in the new George Miller movie. But Imperator Furiosa has many formidable female ancestors in sci-fi and fantasy ... Disney-Pixar's John Lasseter: 'It's very important for us to have female, ethnic characters' ... to have female, ethnic characters,†he said. “That’s grown in importance over time. We’re really paying attention to thatâ€... Republic of Ireland preparing to vote in same sex marriage referendum ... Brendan O'Carroll's character tells the audience that when she "was a young girl there was a big hoo-ha about mixed marriages, Catholics marrying Protestants and black people marrying white people. "But, you know what, they still went and got married and the world didn't end. And we all grew up a little bit."... GCHQ doughnut lit up in rainbow colours The GCHQ "doughnut" building in Cheltenham is to be lit up in rainbow colours as a symbol of the intelligence agency's commitment to diversity. It will take place later, to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. Computer pioneer and codebreaker Alan Turing kept his sexuality a secret while working at Bletchley Park, GCHQ's forerunner, during World War Two. His nephew, Sir John Dermot Turing, said he was "delighted" by the gesture. A spokesman said the rainbow illumination demonstrated GCHQ's pride in its diverse workforce. Until the early 1990s, being openly gay was a bar to employment there... ... And Jeremy Clarkson and "Top Gear" famously had a bit of a 'Mad Max' moment in some USA southern states that had a few of their natives take some rather direct (xeno?-)homophobic action to make some uncomfortable viewing for some very British jolliness... And for an excellent local example highlighting good positive peer pressure triumphing over some very crass negative "who cares for the attention" Marketing: South Wales 'Ride me' bus advert sparks online backlash ... bus company says it will withdraw an advertising campaign following an online backlash. The New Adventure Travel advert depicts a semi-naked woman on the back of buses holding a billboard which reads: "Ride me all day... Ah yes, Germaine Greer. Not all Australian women apparently: Loved or hated, but still Germaine There are some things that Germaine Greer says I agree with and some I don't. What I do is respect her for changing the rules for the debate and for the work she did do for the women's movement. Like all human beings, she is not all good and not all bad. I don't think she deserves the vitriol and contempt that she gets. Reality Internet Personality |

She's a con artist . Shore people don't like her for the woman lib skit but even more dislike her because of things she's been caught out doing over here . |

The 60's in Sydney were certainly very entertaining with the cat fights on the streets. Really? Australia:Proud of Germaine Greer, a brave and passionate advocate for liberty, especially women's I am a second wave feminist. I read The Female Eunuch in 1970 and I am grateful that the book was written as were many of my female friends, because there wasn't much feminist literature around at that time. So tell me, who doesn't like Germaine Greer besides you, Wiggo and Chris S, all males I believe? |

"If it is not ridiculed or reviled, it will have failed of its intention. If the most successful feminine parasites do not find it offensive, then it is innocuous." Wow, to actually see a woman admit that there are feminine parasites out there... ...they've been with us for centuries, all chasing the same ageless & timeless man who if I didn't know better, would think that he is Doctor Who himself. His name? Richard Money. |

So tell me, who doesn't like Germaine Greer besides you, Wiggo and Chris S, all males I believe? I can imagine that the transgender community is not her biggest fan, unless she has changed her opinion on transgenders in the meantime. |

It's very apparent that some people can't read English well enough to understand my previous post. If my missus was still alive she'd give you chapter and verse on her feelings about Germaine and her crew while also giving you chapter and verse on the differences between the Equality for Women movement and those of the Women Liberationists which I doubt that you would like at all (she belonged to the equality movement, the very much larger group). Germaine's problems here were with other women (and still are), not men as you seem to think (men just ignore Germaine), but if you were here in Sydney during that time and actually had seen what was happening then maybe you'd understand what was really going on between the 2 groups (though I doubt that). But in the end that's your problem (and Germaine's), not mine. Finally, once Germaine left these shores (and the liberationists stopped hijacking the equality group's marches and rallies), the Equality for Women movement started making progress at a very good rate instead of being stalled by those liberationists and their extreme views. Cheers. |

I wonder if Lucy Rocca will be targeted by feminists? Women not getting the message "She said many women were "reticent" to admit they had a problem, adding: "It is women not wanting to admit they are drinking too much and not taking that into consideration when they get behind the wheel."" |

I have always been for female equality in all areas of life, but I don't believe that rampant Women Liberation people and groups are the best way to go about it. Germaine Greer did the world a favour by doing what Hev said, bringing the matter to our attention. She courts disfavour and animosity by her way of dealing with it. There are better role models. Yes, I've seen your list of female 'role' models. Although I don't agree with everything Germaine says, I agree with enough to think she makes a better role model than anyone on your list. ..but do tell us what you define as rampant Women Liberation people and what they have done that you take issue. I am curious. Do you know any other names apart from Germaine Greer? Is it 1st wave or 2nd wave feminism you take issue with? Which feminist leaders are bothering you in particular? What is the actual message (I mean what they have actually said and done, not what you think they've done, remember, the whole bra burning thing never happened) that you don't agree with? Let's have an actual discussion here rather than the general "I don't like them" comments you keep making. Reality Internet Personality |

So tell me, who doesn't like Germaine Greer besides you, Wiggo and Chris S, all males I believe? She may have done or be doing, I don't know. I do know now, that the majority of feminist organising is trans-inclusionary. I have been following the debates for some time and as you probably know they are still ongoing. |

My comment solely concerned Germaine Greer. |
