You know the BoincTasks Manager of Fred? http://efmer.com/b Since I use this manager I have one 'problem'. E.g. I set a WU cache of 5 days (and then BOINC have d/l this value). In the combined lines of d/l WUs: For the GPU (1 GPU, 1 WU/GPU) the days how long the WUs will lasts is OK (5 days). But for the CPU (4 CPU Cores) the days are x4, how long the WUs will lasts (20 days). Currently I use BOINC v7.4.42 Client with BoincTasks v1.67 on Win8.1 x64. In past with Duo-CPU and WinXP x86 it was the same, there it was x2. Checked & Unchecked 'Adjust time to BOINC client run time' in the settings. The same result. What's the problem? Do you have similar 'problems'? Thanks. BTW. I know the coder have also a forum. ;-) |

You look in the Tasks tab where the sum is 'as is' (as if you manually add all the times in 'Time Left' column) If you look in the Projects tab there the values are adjusted for the number of tasks you run simultaneously shown in ( ) Project Account ... Tasks Time Left Status Tasks a day SETI@home BilBg ... 100 / 22 05d,04:21:03 (3) / 02d,00:28:21 (1) Deferred for: 00:02:49 15/0 05d,04:21:03 (3) / 02d,00:28:21 (1) (3) = 3 cores (1) = 1 task/GPU on 1 GPU Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Tab 'Tasks' the column 'Time left'. Yes, the lines 'x [Tasks], double click to expand' there the displayed 'days' how long the WUs will lasts. Tab 'Projects' the column 'Tasks' is empty, column 'Time Left' is '-/-'. BTW. The config.xml is empty. I need to set there something? Thanks. |

Tab 'Projects' the column 'Tasks' is empty, column 'Time Left' is '-/-'. Strange, mine is like this (at the bottom 2 lines are from second computer): BTW. The config.xml is empty. I need to set there something? No 'need' but I have this (For the meaning/help look in: \Program Files\eFMer\BoincTasks\examples\): <config> <refresh> <downloads> 1709 </downloads> <uploads> 1307 </uploads> <refresh> 3571 </refresh> <refresh_asap> 1399 </refresh_asap> </refresh> </config> Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Does this mean that you don't use the 'regulator' function, also not the cpu_ & gpu_cores settings? From the examples/config.xml file: <regulator> <max_tasks> 5000 </max_tasks> <days_work_requested> 10 </days_work_requested> <cpu_cores> 6 </cpu_cores> <gpu_cores> 4 </gpu_cores> <min_days_gpu> 1.0 </min_days_gpu> <min_days_cpu> 0.5 </min_days_cpu> <days_work_requested_min> 2.0 </days_work_requested_min> </regulator> Currently - like I mentioned above - my config.xml file is empty. In past with the Duo-CPU and WinXP a short time I used the 'regulator' function, but I saw also the x2 days how long the WUs will lasts ('Time Left' column not correct for the CPU). Thanks. |

Hm, OK, strange, it looks like BoincTasks didn't worked all the time on my PCs like it should ... BTW. BoincTasks tab 'Projects'. If I check a project and press e.g. 'update'. I can't uncheck this project again, I mean it's possible that no project is checked/marked again (to get away the blue line)? Someone other also see the same 'errors' like I mentioned? Thanks. |

OK ... *still soliloquy* ;-) I got it, 'Projects' overview, the mouse over the blue line and CTRL + mouse click and the blue line go away. ;-) After BilBg's hint with the 'Projects' overview, column 'Tasks' & 'Time Left' ... I saw there no entries. I enabled/checked the 'History'. Then I saw in the 'Projects' overview, column 'Tasks' & 'Time Left' '~correct' values. I un-/ & checked the 'Adjust time to BOINC client run time' and saw the same result, that the 'Time Left' in the 'Tasks' overview still show x4. Maybe BOINC need to download new project tasks, and after some time the value is correct then later? Thanks. |

Does this mean that you don't use the 'regulator' function, also not the cpu_ & gpu_cores settings? I don't feel a need for <regulator> section on my computer I enabled/checked the 'History'. I had always the 'History' enabled (it was that way by default (?)) "'~correct' values" may be in fact correct as they also include the remaining time of the Running tasks. I un-/ & checked the 'Adjust time to BOINC client run time' and saw the same result, that the 'Time Left' in the 'Tasks' overview still show x4. You may ask Fred to come here (in this thread) and answer: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_user.php?userid=8906489 But I think that on Tasks tab the sum is always unadjusted for the number of cores "Adjust time to BOINC client run time When checked, times in the project tab, deadline graph and gadget, will be adjusted to the computer run time. To check the run time, right click on the computer in the computers tab. E.g. if the computer runs 50 percent, the time changes from 1 to 2 days." http://www.efmer.eu/boinc/boinc_tasks/manual_settings.html http://efmer.com/b/boinctasks_settings   - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |

Hm, I get an idea ... Do you use flops in your app_info.xml file? I, yes. This could be maybe the 'problem' that the combined line of CPU tasks show at culumn 'Time Left' in the 'Tasks' overview x4? I have already a thread in his forum, but it looks like he can't (have vacation) or he don't want to answer my 'stupid' questions ... ;-) |

Maybe it would be fine to start again from scratch? I mean, I uninstall BoincTasks and all folders & files. Install BoincTasks new (the installation will not find old files, so the Manager start at 'default'). Maybe this would help to find the 'problem'? AFAIK, BoincTasks folder with boinctasks64.exe and the examples & html folders. After uninstall also delete this BoincTasks folder? Is somewhere other BoincTasks related files which I should delete manually? Thanks. |

I don't use 'flops' in My app info file, I see no need to do that. Savoir-Faire is everywhere! The T1 Trust, T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, America's First HST |

If you install BOINC on a new system (or you need to uninstall and install from the scratch again), and you know (maybe over the SETI site from already similar PCs online, or other ways) you can use flops for to get immediately correct estimated times how long the tasks will lasts. And you don't need to wait until at least 10 results/app get Credits granted online. So BOINC can download from the scratch correct value of tasks which you set in prefs. Until now I used always flops (old school SETI member ;-). From what I read, if you have much tasks in BOINC downloaded, the estimated times of the tasks are more accurately. |

Do you use flops in your app_info.xml file? I, yes. No, I never used flops. This is normal (as programmed) to see in 'Tasks' tab raw sum. I see the same (~ "x3" of "x2" depending on CPU) - obviously this is the total sum of all times as seen if you Double-Click the line. I mean, I uninstall BoincTasks and all folders & files. Install BoincTasks new (the installation will not find old files, so the Manager start at 'default'). No, this will not 'help' because what you see is normal. I see the same (and consider it logic and normal) Only on the Projects tab the values are adjusted for the number of tasks you run simultaneously and for "Adjust time to BOINC client run time" Е.g. will show (2) for GPU tasks if you run 2 tasks per GPU And probably will show (6) if you run 2 tasks per GPU on 3 GPUs (but I can't really know or test this) P.S. Just for info: I never uninstalled BoincTasks so don't know if this removes all traces of it. The 'hidden' parts (files, Registry) are at: %APPDATA%\eFMer\BoincTasks\ [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\eFMer\BoincTasks]  - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)  |
