Better known as Liquid bread. I would be right at home at Hopland just up the road. :)))

In ancient Egypt beer was a liquid bread.
In that time they didn't know what yeast was but they figured out when putting bread in barley water it starts to ferment.
The result was probably more like a soup then a beverage...

Liebfraumilch is also a wine from Germany.

Good question. I don't know what the answer is here in Kentucky, lol, but it's still a good question. ;~)

There are rules and the main 1 is the size of the still so if it's big enough to produce commercial quantities you must have a liquor license to operate it (mine is very small, but not the smallest).

And #2: Do not sell it (unless you have an approved liquor license to do so).

There maybe more, but I don't know about them, though all my stuff is store bought from the local homebrew stores.

So I can't produce commercial quantities and I don't sell it either or I wouldn't have enough for myself, spending a whole day in the brewroom once every 3-4 months is enough for me and beer must take 1st priority here. ;-)

But using a still you must understand it and what comes out of it (other than just the ethyl alcohol). What comes out 1st is methanol which must not be drunk (unless you want to die) and with the size of my still means that the 1st 70ml must be kept separated though I take the 1st 100ml off each batch in the still to very safe and I keep it as glass cleaner. Then there's the acetone which must be removed by a charcoal filter.

Anyhow I better get myself another coffee. ;-)

Isn't it amazing how much better a person feels after 10hrs of sleep. :-)

4.5hrs until Beer O'clock here so I'll just watch the morning news, then turn that spirit into rum & bourbon, though I have no idea what I'll do to fill in the rest of the time.

Most of my view from here is just grass, trees, hills and then more of the same for as far as the eye can see.

But I must stop wishing for a quiet time as since my last post the shed has been more like Central Station down in Sydney. :-(

I've been having a go at cooking my first Beef Rogan Josh curry. If it tastes anywhere near as good as it smells at the moment its going to be great. !.5 hours of cooking to go and I'm so impatient. :-)

Now what beer would you choose to go with that?

If I was to have a beer it would be Victoria Bitter or if I was feeling special I would have Crown Lager.
