with a uber fast ssd. a few other parts but still the overall cost was 2.5k a intel with invida build would be over 3 k alone.

Still no drum brake clips from L.E., it's like suddenly no help from them, I found a box of them from O'Reilly Auto Parts instead, ordered a box, turns out the owner of L.E. wants out, wants an employee fired if He doesn't do His job and His GF is the employees boss, so She was a bit emotional today, bummer choice, and the business owner is behind on the rent($4,000 a month) to the building owner and some of the employees pay too, once the parts are in I'm taking the oil and oil filter along with the brake clips and get that work done, have the MAP sensor cleaned and test the TPS sensor, I'll also get the K&N air filter cleaned, maybe the 4 fuel injectors, 2019 is smog test season for this Elmer.

Plus get the car washed and My hair cut, I'm starting to look like Shaggy and I'm fresh out of Scooby snacks... LOL

I still can't do the a/c or the steering wheel, yet, there are some roadblocks in My way.

I also got an estimate for 2 single hung windows in 2 pdf files by email, $777.93 with labor with one being frosted for the main bathroom, I'm looking at a February time frame for the windows as I have to allow for the money to be there.

$225.00 single hung window insert frosted
$200.00 single hung window insert
$352.93 labor @ 2.50, I think the business owner gets half of this, since that is what was done when I was working before 1992.
------------
$777.93 total
$422.48 3rd window insert and labor
------------
$1200.41 with the 3rd and last window added in, but that would take too much time.

The 3rd window would take Me until April to do on the card and the 3rd would also be the last window insert too.

I have five 6 core cpus, yeah all intel, 2 are x5675 95w 32nm and 3 are x1650 v2 130w 22nm Xeons. I do have 1 ssd, it's an Adata 256GB SSD, My 6th cpu is an X3480 a quad core.

I won't go into the why, it's what I have. A thread ripper cpu is going to put AMD in the drivers seat I've read. Intel must be kicking themselves as AMD stole a march on Intel.

I have a question: What is "uber fast"? I know what "fast" is and I know that there is that taxi service called "Uber". But, what is "uber fast"? :\

Hi Zoom,

Sounds like a word that someone just made up instead of using existing, real words. You know, like the word "sup" which is supposed to be short for "what's up".

I wonder which came first, the "word" "uber" or the taxi service called Uber?

Anyway, a bit off topic Zoom, sorry. Was just wondering about it. when I read the post.

Have a great day! :)

Hi TL,

WOW!!! I never heard the word until I saw the first Uber taxi service commercial on TV. And I've been around since the very early 50s. :)

Thanks and have a great day! :)

Your car's noise - I doubt that it is something dragging on the road. A stone trapped in around a rear spindle - highly unlikely. More likely is that one of the springs that retain the rear brake shoes has become detached or has broken, they can be really difficult to get to sit down properly and you have just had some work done on the rear suspension, which would involve taking the rear brakes to bits.

It was a clip for the rear brakes dust shield, a U shaped part. I just had the rear drum brakes worked on, the area between the shield and spindle were not checked, everything down there looked ship shape or tight.

Today I got the oil changed, the k&n air filter and map sensor cleaned, checked the TPS sensor which is performing correctly, on Thursday I have to go back to get the right rear brake kit installed since for the moment that corner is existing on the old clip and an adapted part, then I can get the car washed and get a hair cut for Myself as I'm starting to resemble Shaggy Rogers, and I'm beat.

I still have the following to do, the amounts are just guesses on My part as I could be off some or a lot, after that the car will be done, for a while.

1. $ 00 Replacing a steering wheel that is soaked with oil thanks to some mechanics dirty hands(I have the replacement, the shop still no steering wheel puller, already paid for in advance)
2. $120? Doing the a/c(I have everything needed, I wish the shop did, their equipment is still busted and it's a small town)
3. $100? Instrument Assembly swap, the tach doesn’t always work and nor does tapping either, so I need to swap the tach out for one that was used less and I have the parts.
4. $200? Recover drivers seat with parts from the old seat
5. $ 50? Fix driver door weatherstripping

No, but I read it will cause the warning on the dash to light up if broken, so I had it tested, just in case, it's cheaper than replacing it @ $27.28 from one source.
Now next year I know I'll once again pass smog, the Throttle Position Sensor would have to break requiring a new one from Motorcraft for someone not to pass.

I'm currently waiting for some car parts to arrive from O'Reilly, they're used by Lube Express, just to get some parts for the right rear brake and that comes with unneeded springs, at least for My car the springs aren't needed at least as mine are good to go.

Throttle response is better now, no hesitation and I'm still getting 37.33mpg, My car may not be as fast as a Mustang GT, but I do alright, though I wish it wasn't quite so snug. But I'm slowly working on that.

I got the car washed and found a crack caused by a rock in the past, it was 93-96F outside in Barstow CA. This was outside the Sparkle Car Wash was just before I was about to get some new parts installed on My rear drum brakes. :( I've no idea how much a new windshield will cost it's too late for today, maybe on Friday.

Very dirty, the crack came afterwards, the center is an impact crater from a pebble. Since the car does not get washed often here.

I have a car port and no garage, so this will last until the next dust or rain storm here in the desert.

Safelite online estimate says:
$110 to repair.
$233 to replace.

I'm so tired of the pain, I can understand why older people said younger people have a lot of energy.
14 years ago I had energy, even though I'm taking 1000mcg of B-12 a day and 2-6 650mg of 8hr tylenol, I feel like a spent fuel rod.

I think I might ask for a friend nearby to help with a few things here, like moving boxes and My PC.

Check with your car insurance, but mine, (State Farm), tells me that Glass is considered to be a "Comprehensive" Claim; so, my Comp Deductible would apply to repair/replace the glass... ($100 Deductible for me.)

I'm feeling a bit better since I sat in My recliner and watched some tv.

I have a decent amount of time, its just so many interruptions get in My way and when I'm done, I'm exhausted, from the heat and tasks I set out to do, I took the trash out and scraped an old obsolete PC, so obsolete that the pci-e slot was 1.0a, I tried putting a pci-e 2.0 video card in that 1.0a slot once, the video was choppy and not exactly usable. I also got the car washed and then the last parts installed for the rear drum brakes, which now don't make noises when I backup or go forward, the brakes work as intended again.

I'm going to try on Friedday and move an igloo chest and waste basket so that I can move the two shelving units out from near the wall since then I can walk behind them to unhook the printer cable and move the paper and printer to their new location as a unit, then move the shelving, igloo and basket back until I'm ready for the next step.

If you lived out here you'd be Fried too. Even Grace is a bit fried and She doesn't need to go out there.

I'll have to get a trash bag out and take out some more trash, I'm only half done on that chore, but not tonight. One day I intend to get one of those slim 23 gallon Rubbermaid waste baskets that I could stuff a trash bag into.
