you can use four screws to hold two radiators in the top and if you remove the 140mm fan in the back you can use four more screws to hold a third radiator there |

the only other place to put a radiator would be where those drive bays are at, unless you have six other radiators that you're already planning on mounting there |

I'm not posting here anymore, since I don't have any real friends here, goodbye. Hang in there. This is quite a story for putting so many machines together. A lack of comment doesn't mean a lack of interest. Note the views count? (36000+ ...!) Just a thought: For all the combined wisdom we have on this forum, is there a "s@h crunching" guide anywhere? Many people have been reading your thread, myself include. It is one of only two threads that I always read in the Seti forums. Not responding does not mean a lack of interest. Please keep going. |

Big congrats and go for it! (I'm sure some of the computing can wait whilst you run through other real world tasks ;-) ) Good luck and keep searchin', Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

This guy always scares me when he does this builds. (as in what not to do) At least he finally got the right tools this time. What I've noticed is there is now a metal projection superior to the chip (this isn't the case with other GPUs in that series) I wonder if EVGA did that to prevent people from attaching hybrid coolers to the GPUs As such, he is forced to mount the hybrid as he did, otherwise he could have mounted like I did for the 1080. It's interesting to see the shroud is 1 piece instead of 3 separate pieces (I think they were trying to save some money) |

It's an Asus x99e ws. If you zoom in on the CPU you can see the name of the board But those boards can be tricky |

Last weekend I got given back a 7yr old workstation of mine. This weekend it's up and crunching with 2 GTX 550Ti's in it. Cheers. |

Good to see an update with a new design. Rather an impressive production to zoom along. Hope you're enjoying fun energy with people and places also!? Happy fast fun crunchin'! Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

I going to eventually upgrade to an MSI GTX1060 Gaming X card and a Red NZXT G10 Kraken(for the 1060), I have an NZXT X31 cpu cooler that needs a 1060 video card. $275.36 for 3GB ram, $387.13 for 6GB ram, both from Amazon. But that'll have to wait until sometime in the future, maybe 2019, maybe. The MSI 1060 Gaming X I think is only 290 $ on NewEgg. If they're out of stock, the alternate sellers usually charge a lot more, 300+ $. There's a 10$ rebate for it now, too. I really want to upgrade since there's so much improvement over my 650Ti. But I am cheap and pinch every penny so I will probably wait a couple years as well. However, it always feels like I'm playing catch-up on PC specs since I'm always buying a couple generations behind whenever I make a new build, in order to save money, and since I don't stream or use ultra settings when gaming. Also, on NewEgg it looks like PNY is now selling a 6GB 1060 that has 256-bit RAM instead of the 192-bit. I don't know if that makes a big difference. Anyone know? The card's size seems much smaller than MSI, so maybe the heatsink and fans are smaller. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133638 |

You are right about it being a typo, I think. I found an official brochure for this model and it says 192-bit. Some of the 1060's 6gb on Newegg seem to be about 250$. The MSI ones seem to be priced higher, not sure if the brands have major differences. |

Hello Friends, It is so nice to read the supportive and encouraging posts here, as Vic deals with new medical issues. I have always found the seti community to be so lovely and supportive. This is, however, a thread in Number Crunching, so technically we should all be staying (more or less) to technical issues. Vic has been posting in the Cafe about his medical issues and I would like to encourage people to post their well wishes there, so that this thread will wind its way back towards the interesting technical topic of computer builds. I am not going to hide or move any posts at this time. I'm just hoping that, going forward, this thread will trend towards being more technical in nature, as is typical of Number Crunching threads.
