Well, I turned the system on some time this morning. The remaining five Units should be close to finished; or already are finished. I can't check now, because my parents are using the system. I will check later.

For now, I just worry about the Video Drivers.

@Bill G

I don't know why the stdrr is showing inconsistencies; I copied and transferred the BOINC Data Folder in its entirety from Old Farragut - ID: 7066606, to New Farragut, and when I installed BOINC 7.4.42 from scratch to the system it saw, and kept the original ID from Old Farragut. So, I would have assumed that all files would be stored in the right place.

Well it is looking much better....I do not know what happened. Even your Inconclusives look good and should get credit when another computer finishes.

From what I've read of other posts about the Intel cards; I gather this thing won't be very fast at crunching... What should it see as a stable, normal RAC??? (My NVIDIA GTX-750 TI SC should hit and stay around 11 K RAC; for example - running 24/7...)

Unfortunately, I don't run my systems 24/7; so I know I won't reach Max RAC capability on any of the three systems now crunching. However, Exeter, (GTX-760), and Prometheus, (GTX-750 TI SC), crunch from 6 AM to 9 PM Pacific Time and Farragut, (Intel 530 card), will crunch whenever it is running... No specific set times to run on Farragut because it's my parents system. So, whenever they turn it on that day, it will run the rest of the day 'til 9 PM Pacific.

I will try those if I ever get control of my fathers system. So far, it won't let me, and I don't know if his system is off, or waiting on some input from him.

He has pneumonia now, and is very weak and frail. I can't even ask him to see if his computer is on. :(

New update for win7 to avoid. KB 3112343.
This update enables support for additional upgrade scenarios from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and provides a smoother experience when you have to retry an operating system upgrade because of certain failure conditions. This update also improves the ability of Microsoft to monitor the quality of the upgrade experience.

Updated "updates to avoid list":

(Red for 8.1, Blue for 7, Green for either/both):

KB 2952664 - Labeled a compatibility upgrade for upgrading Windows 7, its purpose is to "make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows".
KB 2957026 - This update makes feature changes and improvements to the Windows 8.1 Upgrade notification in Windows 8 or Windows RT. After you install this update, the upgrade will be more discoverable and faster.
KB 2976978 - A compatibility update for Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 which "performs diagnostics on the Windows system [..] to determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating system is installed.
KB 2977759 - This update performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. These diagnostics help determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating system is installed. This update will help Microsoft and its partners ensure compatibility for customers who want to install the latest Windows operating system.
KB 2990214 - Does the same as KB 3044374 but on Windows 7.
KB 3021917 - Does the same as KB 2976978 but on Windows 7.
KB 3022345 - Update to enable the Diagnostics Tracking Service in Windows (Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1)
KB 3035583 - This update installs the "Get Windows 10" notification on Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1
KB 3044374 - This update for Windows 8.1 enables systems to upgrade from the current operating system to a later version of Windows.
KB 3050265 - This update makes improvements to the Update client to increase scanning speed, and to improve the upgrade to later versions of Windows. Also provides the registry keys to disable upgrading to 10.
KB 3065987 - This article describes an update that contains some improvements to Windows Update Client in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (note: some google results suggest this may be part of the win 10 nagware upgrade, but it hasn't been confirmed)
KB 3068708 - This update introduces the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service to existing devices.
KB 3075249 - This update adds telemetry points to the User Account Control (UAC) feature to collect information on elevations that come from low integrity levels.
KB 3075851 - This article describes an update that contains some improvements to Windows Update Client in Windows 7 and also resolves an issue in which certain Windows Update operations fail when you install (KB3065987) on Windows 7 Embedded editions.
KB 3081954 - This update ensures users can continue using Work Folders when upgrading from Windows 7 to 10. Also adds telemetry points to Work Folders for Asimov telemetry pipeline.
KB 3080149 - This package updates the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service to existing devices.
KB 3083324 - Mysterious update that claims to be an update for Windows Update Client in Windows 7. No further information is known.

A little too late: I am running Windows 10 1511 on a modern PC with Boinc and works great. Windows 7 was sweet but seems outdated now.

OK - I have a "Windows Update" question for those whom have Upgraded from an older OS to 10 Pro, AND for those whom have recently bought a NEW computer with Win 10 pre-loaded...

If you have a 17 year old printer, (YES, from 1998), in my case an HP 4000 Series PCL 6, with Dual 500 Sheet Trays, and Tray 1 Single Sheet Feeder with Envelope Feeder, 8MB RAM, HP JetDirect 10Mb card, and extra fonts kit, and try to print from ANY software package MULTIPLE Copies of a document, WHAT HAPPENS???

On our NEW HP Envy Desktop system, (pre-loaded with Win 10 Home, Upgraded to 10 Pro), Windows Update had the 4000 Series PCL 6 driver, I installed it, had to adjust most of the settings to reflect the above noted features of our printer, and then printed a document from a couple different programs, (Word, ADOBE Reader, etc.), and in those programs stated "3 Copies"... The driver overrides the multiple copies AND ONLY prints 1 copy...

Win 7 prints multiple copies just fine, and I'm unsure about 8, and 8.1...

So, if ANY of you have a similar printer out there connected to a NEW Win 10 system, PLEASE let me know if you can print multiple copies of a document...

Thanks,

TL

Be CAREFUL with that 1511 Home edition Upgrade!!!

We just bought our HP Envy Desktop system with 10 Home pre-loaded, and Win Update INSISTED on grabbing the 1511 Home Upgrade... Upon reboot, and login, the built in Intel Wireless Card was now BROKEN!!! The driver(s) in 1511 DON'T WORK!!! I immediately reverted back to Original 10 Home edition, and the Intel Wireless worked again.

From Original Win 10, (now restored), I immediately Upgraded to 10 Pro to avoid the 1511 being reinstalled, and 10 Pro works perfectly, EXCEPT for our HP LaserJet 4000TN printer; noted in my last post...

BEWARE 1511 Home Edition is broken!!! :-O

Just to be clear, 1511 is a version number, what build are you running? I am running build 10586 (which is a fast track build) but without problems. I know there is a fix for your problem, but I can not remember what it is.

I didn't pay attention to the numbers after 1511... I just know from the experience that it definitely broke the Intel Wireless... Didn't get a chance to check anything else; just immediately reverted to Original Win 10 Home, then Upgraded to 10 Pro.

Still would like feedback on my other post with the HP LaserJet 4000TN issue, though... ;)

Both my HP Envy 4500 printer and my WiFi card Atheros AR58125 work after the update to 1511 of my Windows 10 Home edition. The printer is connected via WiFi.

Does HP have Win10 drivers for this printer? I know I trashed a printer when upgrading from Vista that had only printed 10 copies. It was just not supported by Cannon in the "New" OS.
It is up to the printer manufacturer to support the printer, not the OS, and if they decide it is past its support date, you may be out of luck.

Not trying to be a smartass, but I would just hit the print button three time if everything else is working.

Well, like I said, in Win 7 all printing aspects work perfectly. I never tested my dad's ASUS laptop on 8, or 8.1; so, not sure of the HP printer driver there - then Upgraded the ASUS to 10 Home, then 10 Pro. Dad doesn't use the laptop at home much; instead, taking it to work and connecting to a printer there. (He's a General Contractor.)

So, when I got a hold of their new HP Envy Desktop with Win 10 Home, I waited until I got Pro on there before transferring all their data from the old system, and then installed the printer drivers.

Their Brother MFC-7440N All-In-One was the ONLY printer connected to the Network that was able to obtain drivers for Win 10 DIRECTLY from Brother. The HP LaserJet 4000TN and the 4ML 300dpi printers got the HP Drivers from Windows Update. (HP doesn't have drivers on their site anymore for these two printers.) But, like I said, the Win Update Drivers for HP work in Win 7 - BUT NOT Win 10.

In a pinch; I've suggested to dad that he print a document to the 4000TN and then take it to the Brother to copy X more times... OR, make the Brother the Default printer on the HP Envy Desktop system... Don't know what else to do... :-(

Being that the HP printers are 17 and 22 years old, (respectively), they MOST DEFINITELY are now Unsupported by HP. It's a MIRACLE that Win Update shows these printers at all; I suppose...

Usually the printer driver have it's own Settings for the number of copies
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=cr#q=hp%20printer%20driver%20number%20of%20copies

If you had the opposite problem - you set (in Word) 3 copies and the printer do 6 - I would say "you set 2 copies in the printer driver Options and so every page sent from a program is duplicated (3*2=6)"

Nevertheless check the printer driver Options/Settings/Properties

E.g. this talks about some "HP printer option called Mopier Mode"
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/my-hp-laserjet-1200-printer-will-not-print/150eaf39-63a5-4c86-b047-873631a3e39a?auth=1

I already tried that last night... Went directly through the Printer Properties, tried setting the device to default print multiple copies, hit Apply, then OK; and NOTHING the printer still only prints 1 copy of a document. Tried Word tried ADOBE Reader, tried Notepad... All the same, only 1 copy prints.

Went back to Printer Properties and saw that my "change" was ignored, or reset to 1 copy. Tried again in Word, Adobe, and Notepad and selected Multiple Copies within each program, and again NOTHING, only 1 copy prints... The MS HP Driver is broken. :-(

Beware...

From my recent experience, you now have to pay monthly for your Microsoft software...

No choice about it.

NOT for Office Home and Business 2013!!! The HP Envy Desktop system came with 365; and THAT IS A PAY AS YOU GO software package... I uninstalled that, and installed a new copy of H&B 2013, and NO mention of recurring charges there...

As for the OS, 10 Pro Upgrade cost $99.99 to go from 10 Home to Pro... Again, NO recurring charges.

Did you found the "Mopier Mode" Setting?
They say it is "enabled by default" so if you do some "Reset to defaults" it will be ON
Also look for "collate" and disable it.

Went back to Printer Properties and saw that my "change" was ignored, or reset to 1 copy

I think this is known from Windows 98 / Word 97 days (at least for me)

You first need to exit all programs that can print! (Word, Adobe, ...) (else they (programs) will return the Printer Settings at the state when the program was started)
Only then look and change "Printer Properties" from Start Menu
