OK - I miscounted... There were 6 units downloaded to 7066606 - Farragut. I allowed 1 to finish; the others are Suspended right now. The unit that finished is Pending; but, I'm still unsure about the Video Driver... TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

There are some strange goings on in your stdrr file but I am afraid it is beyond me. You should perhaps run the others and hope to check your results and see if they validate. (no one has finished yet) However it sure looks like something is not set up correctly. It certainly appears that you have something incorrect. However it does not appear to have anything with your driver setup. ![]() SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

There are some strange goings on in your stdrr file but I am afraid it is beyond me. Well, I don't know what that would be; because the system is 2 Days New... I'm still installing software on it. I'm toward the end of my installation run; only have iTunes, and then O&O Security for Win 10 to go yet. PCMatic is running tests, scanning the system for the first time, and defragging the 1 TB HD. As for drivers; all are stock from MS or Intel. I went to Intel for grins and giggles, installed a driver update tool that they claim scans the system for Intel hardware, checks the software versions, and recommends updates as needed. The only thing that came up was a driver for the Intel 802.11 AC Wireless card. So, I guess I'm stuck with the Win 10 drivers for the Video Card... :-( Once PCMatic is done, I will Resume the remaining five tasks for the GPU. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... I have used Win 10 for a while now, and am used to it. What I don't like is its determination to be installed regardless of user preferences. Yes, we here can remove certain updates, even when they are re-released, or do other hacks to prevent it from installing, but my aging father accidentally installed it, after I had told him not to. He is too old and computer illiterate to deal with the changes. Now, I will have to log on remotely, and roll back the installation to Win 7. What Microsoft doesn't seem to understand, is that sometimes change is not good. I was far more tolerant of Win 10, when it hadn't affected my father. Now, I am quite upset. I wish there was a single switch that told Microsoft "No I don't want this installed." and be done with it. Steve Edit: My father is 1500 miles away from me, so it's not like I can hop in the car, and go fix things. Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. What Microsoft doesn't seem to understand, is that sometimes change is not good.Understanding has nothing to do with the situation, Micro$oft flat out doesn't care! I have had similar problems with the Intel driver download. It does not easily allow you to install a driver that you want. In my case it would only tell me to go the my MB manufacturer's site and download drivers from there. There are ways to download the latest driver from Intel but you have to follow the directions carefully that can be found. I know, I did it. As I said, I believe your drivers are doing just fine, it is just where some of your files are being stored where I see the mix-mash in your stdrr file. ![]() SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

Yes, on my ageing core2duo systems, If I just naively use Windows supplied or Intel installer drivers, then I get old drivers (checking the dates of system device drivers in device manager). Those are typically subject to high DPC latencies. Forcing each driver manually from the zip version, as well described and hidden in Intel's readmes, solves a lot of problems on those particular systems. Interestingly the i5 seems to not demand the same acrobatics, so I'm not entirely clear on what determines whether the detector+installer route works as expected. Well, I turned the system on some time this morning. The remaining five Units should be close to finished; or already are finished. I can't check now, because my parents are using the system. I will check later. For now, I just worry about the Video Drivers. @Bill G I don't know why the stdrr is showing inconsistencies; I copied and transferred the BOINC Data Folder in its entirety from Old Farragut - ID: 7066606, to New Farragut, and when I installed BOINC 7.4.42 from scratch to the system it saw, and kept the original ID from Old Farragut. So, I would have assumed that all files would be stored in the right place. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

From what I've read of other posts about the Intel cards; I gather this thing won't be very fast at crunching... What should it see as a stable, normal RAC??? (My NVIDIA GTX-750 TI SC should hit and stay around 11 K RAC; for example - running 24/7...) Unfortunately, I don't run my systems 24/7; so I know I won't reach Max RAC capability on any of the three systems now crunching. However, Exeter, (GTX-760), and Prometheus, (GTX-750 TI SC), crunch from 6 AM to 9 PM Pacific Time and Farragut, (Intel 530 card), will crunch whenever it is running... No specific set times to run on Farragut because it's my parents system. So, whenever they turn it on that day, it will run the rest of the day 'til 9 PM Pacific. I wish there was a single switch that told Microsoft "No I don't want this installed." and be done with it. I will try those if I ever get control of my fathers system. So far, it won't let me, and I don't know if his system is off, or waiting on some input from him. He has pneumonia now, and is very weak and frail. I can't even ask him to see if his computer is on. :( Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

A little too late: I am running Windows 10 1511 on a modern PC with Boinc and works great. Windows 7 was sweet but seems outdated now. |

OK - I have a "Windows Update" question for those whom have Upgraded from an older OS to 10 Pro, AND for those whom have recently bought a NEW computer with Win 10 pre-loaded... If you have a 17 year old printer, (YES, from 1998), in my case an HP 4000 Series PCL 6, with Dual 500 Sheet Trays, and Tray 1 Single Sheet Feeder with Envelope Feeder, 8MB RAM, HP JetDirect 10Mb card, and extra fonts kit, and try to print from ANY software package MULTIPLE Copies of a document, WHAT HAPPENS??? On our NEW HP Envy Desktop system, (pre-loaded with Win 10 Home, Upgraded to 10 Pro), Windows Update had the 4000 Series PCL 6 driver, I installed it, had to adjust most of the settings to reflect the above noted features of our printer, and then printed a document from a couple different programs, (Word, ADOBE Reader, etc.), and in those programs stated "3 Copies"... The driver overrides the multiple copies AND ONLY prints 1 copy... Win 7 prints multiple copies just fine, and I'm unsure about 8, and 8.1... So, if ANY of you have a similar printer out there connected to a NEW Win 10 system, PLEASE let me know if you can print multiple copies of a document... Thanks, TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

A little too late: I am running Windows 10 1511 on a modern PC with Boinc and works great. Windows 7 was sweet but seems outdated now. Be CAREFUL with that 1511 Home edition Upgrade!!! We just bought our HP Envy Desktop system with 10 Home pre-loaded, and Win Update INSISTED on grabbing the 1511 Home Upgrade... Upon reboot, and login, the built in Intel Wireless Card was now BROKEN!!! The driver(s) in 1511 DON'T WORK!!! I immediately reverted back to Original 10 Home edition, and the Intel Wireless worked again. From Original Win 10, (now restored), I immediately Upgraded to 10 Pro to avoid the 1511 being reinstalled, and 10 Pro works perfectly, EXCEPT for our HP LaserJet 4000TN printer; noted in my last post... BEWARE 1511 Home Edition is broken!!! :-O TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Just to be clear, 1511 is a version number, what build are you running? I am running build 10586 (which is a fast track build) but without problems. I know there is a fix for your problem, but I can not remember what it is. ![]() SETI@home classic workunits 4,019 SETI@home classic CPU time 34,348 hours |

I know there is a fix for your problem, but I can not remember what it is. I didn't pay attention to the numbers after 1511... I just know from the experience that it definitely broke the Intel Wireless... Didn't get a chance to check anything else; just immediately reverted to Original Win 10 Home, then Upgraded to 10 Pro. Still would like feedback on my other post with the HP LaserJet 4000TN issue, though... ;) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Both my HP Envy 4500 printer and my WiFi card Atheros AR58125 work after the update to 1511 of my Windows 10 Home edition. The printer is connected via WiFi. Tullio |
