After uninstalling the "convert win7/8 to nsa edition" (message 1719579) updates, the Diagnostic tracking service was running like crazy Please deactivate "Diagnostic Tracking Service" in your windows services. If you don't care, leave it alone. |

t is looking more and more like Micro$soft is unintentionally alienating users from using their software and Operating System. Too bad that the majority of Windows users don't have a clue as to what Micro$oft is doing. Greetings DG, No, I actually meant unintentionally. As arrogant as Micro$oft may be, I cannot see them intentionally alienating users from Windows. Keep on BOINCing...! :) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? Greetings, Not to add to the 'conspiracy theory' flavor of this thread, but: ;) I was thinking just a bit ago: Would Micro$oft stoop so low as to start pushing out updates with bogus descriptions yet the updates do the exact thing we are trying to prevent from happening, this because there are ways being publicly displayed on how to circumvent the 'SkyNet-ness' of Windows 10 and now being attempted with Win7 and 8.1? Keep on BOINCing...! :) CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Without doubt, why would they start being honest or ethical with their users now? Hopefully there are some rogue MCSE techs that will look at the code on updates and keep us informed. http://hothardware.com/news/microsoft-hits-home-run-announces-75-million-installs-for-windows-10 Of course, they don't say how many people have since uninstalled it again. Microsoft itself is projecting that there will be 1 billion devices running Windows 10 within two to three years. That's scary. |

After uninstalling the "convert win7/8 to nsa edition" (message 1719579) Wow. No kidding. I noticed that one of those updates had snuck through my careful research, so I removed it yesterday. Saw this post, went to services and told it to stop running and it has been "stopping service..." for 15 minutes now and it is still running. Task manager shows that particular svchost.exe process has been using a full CPU core for the past 23 hours (since I uninstalled that one update). Uuuggggghhhh. Stop trying to commandeer MY machine, MS! edit: that did the trick. Administrative command prompt: taskkill /pid 1792 /F (verify with task manager what the PID is for your particular case: services tab, look for DiagTrack and get the PID for it from there, if it refuses to stop on its own). I suspect most of us here are dying breed. This worries me a lot more than anything MS might do Facebook has a billion users in one day I suspect most of them posted pictures, told people where they were or where they were going, what time they would be home and when they will be on holiday and posted pictures of their pets and or kids. So many Facebook users have little or nothing hidden. Peoples lives are there to see. If you doubt me how do you think I tracked down the Kenzie impersonator, via an open Facebook account where all the pictures were on show. How many of those billion who use Win 10 will even care what MS does. It is a new world where privacy is fast becoming a thing of the past. Of course we don't like it, but I am not sure there is much we can do to stop it. |

The updates in question are KB3068708, KB3022345, KB3075249, and KB3080149, and you can find their full description in the box after the jump. I found only one of these on my machine. I uninstalled and hid it. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for the others. The Universe is not only stranger than you imagine, it's stranger than you can imagine. Greetings, I am getting real tired of seeing this when I go to check for updates: All I want to to check for updates and see if any are legit, that's it! :| Is there any way to truly getting rid of Win10? All I want to to check for updates and see if any are legit, that's it! :| Is there any way to truly getting rid of Win10? Found it last night in Installed Updates(I believe, should have written it down). Just uninstall and hide. Worked for me. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

This was posted here some time ago. It may not be completely up to date, but it worked for me. Just uninstall, and hide the following updates, and you'll never be bothered again (until they push another upgrade update on you): |

I too only found one of these installed kb3068708 uninstalled it and 2 others kb3075249 and kb3080419 are listed as optional updates the other one kb3022345 I have not found anywhere yet. I do not understand why M$ is so hellbent on going after this unless as was posted elsewhere in this thread that they were asked or ordered to do it. These updates are on a list right in front of me so I will always look whenever there are any updates since my update settings are for notify only. ME AND MY BOY LOOKING FOR ET

This was posted here some time ago. There is only one kb number in common between this list and the one given earlier. Does anyone know for sure which ones we need to look out for? Add these two to the recently re-quoted list: KB3075249 - adds telemetry points to consent.exe (sends your UAC decisions back to HQ) My friend that just decided to go back to 7 from 10 asked for a list of KBs to keep an eye out for, and I dug through several pages of this thread and came up with this list: KB2952664 KB2976978 KB2990214 KB3021917 KB3022345 KB3035583 KB3044374 KB3068708 KB3075249 KB3080149 I think one or two of those are for 8.1, but have a 7 equivalent with a different number as well. But as far as I know, that's the most-complete list to avoid that I can come up with at the moment. I might be missing one or two, but I think that takes care of the bulk of them. Edit: I think I just found another one or two: KB2957026 KB2977759 KB3065987 KB3075851 I think that just about completes the list. Some are 8/8.1-only, some are 7-only, if that wasn't simple to understand in my previous wording. Linux laptop: record uptime: 1511d 20h 19m (ended due to the power brick giving-up) |

Great idea. I was about ask to compile a list like this. If anyone has to add something to that list, please do so. Maybe this should be in a permanent thread. |

Thanks for the list it will be a big help since I will need to re-check my computers but I will also have to check my in-laws computer since they are not very tech savvy and the computer place they normally go to are a bunch of a**$%^#s they think that M$ security essentials is better than Norton and have removed Norton more than once even though my father-in-law has told them not to. So thanks for the list. ME AND MY BOY LOOKING FOR ET

KB2952664 I removed and hid all the updates in that list that I had. I ended up "Preparing to update windows" for more than an hour. Hard power crashed it. It worked after that. I have the list in a text file and I'll check any updates against it. The Universe is not only stranger than you imagine, it's stranger than you can imagine.
