Message 1672766 - Posted: 1 May 2015, 21:15:52 UTC - in response to Message 1672763.

I count 12 AP tapes mounted in the last 10 hours and I was sent one AP WU during that same period. Anybody doing better? They must be going somewhere.

It looks like I've grabbed ~120 AP so far today.

On the whole day I have 30 but all but one were before 10:00 UTC. When they go to single tapes with breaks in between I generally end up with none or one or two at the most. Not sure why that is.

Looks like most of mine were before 10:00 as well. With 23 from 1 May 2015, 10:04:25 UTC & later. The last one was 1 May 2015, 17:00:05 UTC. So ~4 hours ago.

Out of my 30 or so machines only about 20 are even configured to run AP. So that is only like 6 per machine for today.

Well then, I will consider myself lucky :).

Tape 21jn12aa is 0.00 GB it will be interesting to see whether this is an aesthetic error or whether or not this tape will be completely skipped it has (done) on the AP side with the MBs still to be split.

I imagine it has < 0.005 GB of data. Otherwise I would expect it to display 0.01GB. Unless they don't do any rounding in displaying that figure. Then it might be 0.009GB.

One thing is sure it will be split superfast

That would be so awesome if .5 or .9 of a megabyte held the answer that we are all looking for

There's another 50.20gb tape being split by AP. It just started, so.. get what you can whilst it lasts!

edit: there's a second tape being split.

6 * 9 = 42. It checks out. At least for base 13 maths.

OK, here's a pretty rough estimate, based on what has passed through my machines.
...
The 'TOTAL' column is what I've posted in the data distribution thread, and hasn't changed at all since the start of 2015.

Do you think you need/want job_log_setiathome.berkeley.edu.txt files from other users?

I.e.
- Is the process of analyzing job_log files automated/easy enough (e.g. nearly the same human (your) effort to sum 20 files as is for 10)
- Do you think it will add any new info

It's semi-automated, and could be automated further: I think it took me about 20 minutes to prep the data for April from 7 machines, merge it, run it through the sausage machine, and verify that I'd seen no new tapes during the month.

We cross-checked my work with another user shortly after I started this project, and found that I was catching a very high percentage of the processed tapes - I'd only missed a couple, IIRC. I'm a little reluctant to routinely call for logs from other users: apart from the extra manual processing, my main data table (tasks completed, from the logs) already has over a million rows, and it takes SQL a while to boil those down to 5547 unique tape names for the specified date range.

But I'd be happy to run a spot-check - I think you have my email address?

Yes, they're turned off, all my tasks sent at 2 May 2015, 18:29:37 UTC are Ghosts, the work sent at 18:52:32 UTC has been received.

OK, here's a pretty rough estimate, based on what has passed through my machines. I've taken the launch date for SaH (MB) as being 1st. June 2013, and everything since then as being done by v7 - it's easier to work in complete months.

The 'TOTAL' column is what I've posted in the data distribution thread, and hasn't changed at all since the start of 2015. The v7 column is what I've done since that simplified launch date, and the v6 only column is the difference between the two.

Recorded TOTAL Processed with Processed with
SaH v7 (since Sah v6 only
launch June 2013) (derived)

2007 350 4 346
2008 911 869 42
2009 546 455 91
2010 748 99 649
2011 1121 147 974
2012 843 583 260
2013 588 536 52
2014 232 232 n/a

Thanks Richard!

Still a lot of tapes to reprocess from 2012-2011-2010.

Will be nice to see the evolution in a few months.

As far as I am aware resend lost task is still to send off to save the server load. Is there a way to switch AP tasks from an ATI card to Nvidia Card/CPU without losing them? Reason why I am asking is because it says "GPU missing"Task started okay then my computer restarted and that is when it said "GPU missing"

Matt may have turned it back on yesterday, 7 May.
One of my PENDING tasks from 24 April just got validated. Even though the Task was generated on 24 April, my wingman didn't get it until 7 May. He completed it on 8 May. This Work Unit
