Indoor air pollution is by far the biggest environmental problem of the world. Every year, 4.3 million people die due to the exposure to household air pollution caused by indoor open fire. To bring this in perspective: This is 45-times the number of the global annual deaths from natural catastrophes (±95,000 in the 2010s). And much more than twice the number of people dying because of AIDS (1.5 million in 2013). It is probably the most unreported of the world’s big problems.

Is this because they don't have electricity? What would it cost to provide all those people with electricity and the appliances that go with it to have a home that doesn't need open flames?

I have not seen why so many people choose to use indoor open fire.
But many in India for instance like to cook their food that way.
They have both have electricity and propan gas but they like the taste of food prepared better when using open fire even more.
It causes one big problem more.
The soot makes the Himalayain glaciers to melt in a faster pace and half of the Worlds population are dependent of the fresh water from there.

Think BBQ in LA...

So, does this mean that the government should step in and if so, do what? For the greater good should people be forced to change their traditions? Looks like more big brother to me.

Think BBQ in LA...

Speaking of which they have banned liquid BBQ starter fluids (kerosine) in the SCAQMD area due to emissions and one chain burger place has had to install scrubbers on their gas flame grills because of smoke. It is a big problem.

Although the data on North Korea is likely incorrect, depending if starvation in a labor camp is execution .....

From what I understand the rankings are "official" figures.
North Korea however...

Does North Korea execute people with anti-aircraft guns? New satellite images suggest the rumors may be true.

I agree about America Unearthed 100%

Are you serious?
I haven't seen Scott Wolters rubbish TV show.
Only his crap about the Kensington rune stone.
He is certain that Norwegians and Swedes sent an expedition to America in 1362.
That's nonsense.
A possible origin for the irregular shape of the runes was discovered in 2004, in the 1883 notes of a then-16-year-old journeyman tailor with an interest in folk music, Edward Larsson. Larsson's aunt had migrated with her husband and son from Sweden to Crooked Lake, just outside Alexandria, in 1870. Larsson's sheet lists two different Futharks. The first Futhark consists of 22 runes, the last two of which are bind-runes, representing the letter-combinations EL and MW. His second Futhark consists of 27 runes, where the last 3 are specially adapted to represent the letters å, ä, and ö of the modern Swedish alphabet. The runes in this second set correspond closely to the non-standard runes in the Kensington inscription.

That f**g runstone was carved in 1882!
By whom we dont know but most likely done as a prankster:)

Now I can't even agree with you without being challenged?

Sorry Bob. But Scott Wolter makes me go ballistic:)
Maybe Erik Williams SHOULD sue him as Scott suggest!

Soon on History Channel 2, Julie:)
They will find compelling evidences that the story is true.
One story about Lot who became a salt statue because looking back is a compelling evidence that aliens fired a nuclear bomb in Palestine:)
