I haven't seen Scott Wolters rubbish TV show.
Only his crap about the Kensington rune stone.
He is certain that Norwegians and Swedes sent an expedition to America in 1362.
That's nonsense.

A possible origin for the irregular shape of the runes was discovered in 2004, in the 1883 notes of a then-16-year-old journeyman tailor with an interest in folk music, Edward Larsson. Larsson's aunt had migrated with her husband and son from Sweden to Crooked Lake, just outside Alexandria, in 1870. Larsson's sheet lists two different Futharks. The first Futhark consists of 22 runes, the last two of which are bind-runes, representing the letter-combinations EL and MW. His second Futhark consists of 27 runes, where the last 3 are specially adapted to represent the letters å, ä, and ö of the modern Swedish alphabet. The runes in this second set correspond closely to the non-standard runes in the Kensington inscription.

Russian subs in Swedish and Finnish territorial water are a myth according to Kremlin.

But the characters are sometimes mixed up.
For instance Aslög (Kraka) Sigurdsdotter wife of Ragnar are in the serie called Lagertha meaning shield maiden:)

Makes for a good story line . If Ragnars son was killed in the battle as you say it would not be as interesting .

They've also mixed the spiritual , mystic ,prophecy and as you say a legend or story . Probably be to boring if they didn't have a bit of Hollywood flair would it !

Lagertha is maybe her second nickname in some of the stories.
The name Kraka means Little.

Do you mean King Ragnar Olafsson?
Ragnvald Olafsson was a petty king of Vestfold in what is today Norway. He was the son of Ragnar Lodbrok or Olaf Geirstad-Alf .

Season one with Ragnar Lodbrok was strange to me.
Since the stories of him already was written in the mid-1200s but why did History channel change so much?

Tale of Ragnar Lodbrok is a Nordic fornaldarsaga.

Ragnar Lodbrok was a great fighter, son of King Sigurd Ring. In the tale, he began to courageously slay the Lindorm, a fairy-tale monster in northern European folklore, who guarded the fair Þóra Borgarhjǫrt. To perform the slaying and not to get poisoned, he dressed in wolf-skin pants that he let cook in tar, hence he got his name - Lodbrok. He married then with Thora, who however died shortly thereafter.

Later Ragnar sailed to Norway, and ended up there in the yard Spangarhed. There he met the beautiful Aslög (also called Kråka, not Lagertha), and her foster mother Grima. Aslög was the daughter of Sigurd and Brynhild. She followed with Ragnar, became his mistress and bore him four sons, Ivar Benlös, Björn Järnsida, Vitsärk and Sigurd Ormöga. On a visit to Uppsala King Östen offered Ragnar marriage to Östens daughter Ingeborg. He was betrothed to her, but well back home Aslög already knew on betrothal. She revealed now that she was the daughter of Sigurd and Brynhild. Aslög instead became wife of Ragnar.

The broken promise against Ingeborg led to war between Ragnar and King Östen. In this battle first died Ragnar's sons Eric and Agnar, and then King Östen.

On one expedition in Northumberland Ragnar became captured by King Ella, and died in his snake pit. Before that, he sang his song Krákumál, Kråksången,, where he invoked his sons, who later avenged his father.

Tale of Ragnar Lodbrok can be found in the manuscript NKS 1824 b 4 ° (1824b) from about the year 1400. It has been preserved at the new Royal Collection, The Royal Library in Copenhagen.
