Lot's of Vikings on Russia Day:)
Warriors from many eras of Russian history roamed Tverskaya Street, ranging from Red Army troops, Napoleonic-era pikemen, Vikings and Cossacks.
The street had been closed for celebrations to mark Russia Day, a public holiday, with thousands of people millingaround amid Viking ships, medieval battle encampments and second world war hardware.
Bearded warriors in golden cloaks, sword-wielding cossacks and tsarist officers carrying bayonets watched as modern-day riot police dragged protesters away.
http://www.newsweek.com/soviet-troops-vikings-and-cossacks-meet-putin-protesters-kremlins-walls-624299
Mikhail, who was dressed as a ninth-century Scandinavian warrior, said he was sad and irritated about the protest.
“They’re like cockroaches, coming in here and spoiling our celebration,” he said, clutching a wooden shield as a group of riot police dragged several protesters from the nearby crowd, leading people to scatter.
“They’ve damaged our stuff and ruined the day. I think the police have behaved impeccably.”

Speaking of riot police.
The notorious former chief of the Kyiv Berkut riot police unit, Colonel Serhiy Kusiuk, who is wanted since summer 2015 on suspicion of involvement in massacres of activists during the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine, has been spotted dispersing an anti-corruption rally in Moscow on Monday, June 12, according to the Ukrainian television news service TSN.

Kusiuk is wearing a Russian law enforcement uniform with the insignia of the special-purpose unit of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs on his hand.

New Russian threat to Sweden: Nuclear weapons - "Greater risk than during the Cold War"
https://foi.se/rapportsammanfattning?reportNo=FOI-R--4430--SE
Abstract: The global strategic balance is in flux and the security situation in Europe has worsened as a result of Russian aggression. Uncertainties about the future of security has also meant a renewed focus on nuclear weapons. The balance of the strategic arsenals is slowly evolving. The impact of missile defence and the demise of key arms control regimes is a concern in some capitals. At the same time some nuclear weapons states, notably Russia, has put increased emphasis on sub-strategic nuclear weapons. Like all nuclear weapons they have a political role, but if used they are intended for tactical or operational targets coupled to enemy forces, rather than urban centers or other value targets. For Russia they also have a role in compensating for gaps in conventional capability. This report deals with the strategic and military implications of sub-strategic arsenals in Europe. A key question which is addressed is how military operations are affected by the increasing capabilities of Russia. Even if used only in a deterrent role they will affect operational planning in the broader European theatre. This means they will also affect Sweden's security calculus. For the sake of future long-term defence planning and national strategy the question needs more attention.

Are the any Independent Russian news outlet left anymore?
Independent Russian news outlet RBC has been bought by oligarch Grigory Berezkin, Russia's Dozhd television channel reported Friday.
Berezkin, who already owns Russia's Komsomolskaya Pravda and Metro newspapers, signed the deal with current owner Mikahil Prokhorov, unnamed sources told the channel.
Berezkin told Dozhd said that he could not confirm the deal, while representatives for Prokhorov refused to comment.

Oh Russia:)
Confederation Cup (Football) is in full swing and Marie Lehmann are there. In Russia, you can not usually film official buildings. But because Marie and the team have press accreditation, they could do it anyway, but that information does not seem to have come to everyone.
"They took our passports for a few minutes and we said we could stop filming because we were still ready and then we got back our passports. Then we left from there", Lehmann told Sportspegeln.

The 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup is the 10th FIFA Confederations Cup, a quadrennial international men's football tournament organised by FIFA. It is being held in Russia, from 17 June to 2 July 2017, as a prelude to the 2018 FIFA World Cup.[1]

The Baltic Sea is becoming very crowded...
China's naval fleet on Sunday set sail from S China's Hainan for a joint maritime drill with Russia in the waters of the Baltic Sea in July.
I wonder if they will pass Öresund...

Russian fighter jet comes within FIVE FEET of US military plane over the Baltic Sea!
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/06/20/breaking-news-armed-russian-jet-comes-within-5-feet-us-recon-jet.html
It was not immediately clear how close the US military recon jet was flying near Kaliningrad, a Russian exclave between NATO allies Poland and Lithuania.
This fall, Russian moved nuclear-capable ballistic missiles to Kaliningrad, putting some European capitals in strike range.

On Monday, June 19, a Russian SU-27 fighter jet flew very close to a US signals intelligence aircraft patrolling the Baltic Sea.
Now, the United States defense has also released photos that show just the moment when the plan was so close that you can see the pilot in the Russian plane.

On the same day, a Russian fighter jet also flew very close to a Swedish signals intelligence aircraft, declares the Swedish Armed Forces.
The event has prompted the government to call Russia's ambassador to the Swedish Foreign Ministry.
"Russian action is unacceptable," commented Defense Minister Peter Hultqvist (S).

Strange question.
Of course it's nothing new.
But these incidents happens more often today.
Sooner or later it will happen an accident.
Even civilian aircrafts are at risk nowadays.

Putin avoid again to fly over Poland and the Baltic States when going home from the G20 meeting today.
Instead over Sweden and Finland, a detour of about 500 km.

Roscosmos, Russia’s national space agency, tweeted a photo taken from Earth’s orbit of a massive portrait of President Vladimir Putin etched into a field in Italy.

“We wanted to check whether or not [this portrait of] Putin is visible from outer space,” said a Roscosmos official, as reported by RBC news agency, adding that a Resurs-P Earth observation satellite took the photo from 475 kilometers (285 miles) above the planet’s surface.

Why is Russia's giant Typhoon sub sailing all the way in surface position heading for the Baltic Sea?
«Of course, this is also a show of force to Norway, Germany, Sweden, Poland and some other countries,» says Russian commentator.
The some other countries are most likely Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
