Wanda Jackson...oooh, Sweet Nothings. I know more about that session than you may wish to know as well....LOL. A rockin' piano, a hot sax, and a little organ sex as well. Meow. All just as laid back as can be... the result was dy no mite. And BTW, the backup track singers were added months after the fact by the insistence of the asswipe producer. They added little to the track and were not endorsed by either Wanda nor myself. Truth be told, it might not have worked, but I wanted to wipe the sax and piano off the set and just let Wanda have her whack at it....there was little more special needed than her sexy voice. The piano might have been necessary..dunno. I was doing some very simplistic things in the studio at the time...And the tapes of her voice track only would be priceless at this time if only I had kept them. 1/4 track at 15 ips of sweet nothings..... There was one track I wished to submit to the Capitol execs, but she was too shy at the time. It started out with one drum kick and then she took off acapella. Most amazing stuff. And what would I have done for the 'musical break' in the song without anybody else in the studio... I can only tell you this much....Wanda could purr as loud as any kitty I ever knew...for true. And I was willing to give that a whack... Might not have played in Dayton as the saying goes, but things were different in those radio days...the sound of Wanda purring on the radio might have caused a few car wrecks. And this afternoon, after 4 hours of sleep and working 7 hours of overtime...it did it again. This hit me so hard and strong I sat down for a few minutes, smiled, and listened to it in my head.
