If ET is watching us from a safe distance and we continue to advance with our technology without advancing our social development I can see the scenario in the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" happening. Or, wiping us out without warning for their own safety. But I think we are still a long way from being a threat to any civilization other than our own. Please take into account the remake. The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008). What was done to him in the film, is what we would do if we did get an Alien. I hope we never do capture one. jmo |

If ET is watching us from a safe distance and we continue to advance with our technology without advancing our social development I can see the scenario in the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still" happening. And I really hope we haven't captured one already. That would really piss them off. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. My last comment was a feeble attempt at humor. Like was said, they may exist but I also really doubt that we have been visited, let alone captured an ET. Yes I know you saw what you saw Julie, and with a companion, nobody anywhere doubts that for one moment. But it was very unlikely to have been what you thought it was, or even wanted it to be. But it is your free choice to believe it isn't it. I want to be rational about it, thought of everything it could possibly be but it's still a case not-closed on this end. rOZZ Music Pictures |

Dr Seth Shostak says we should be trying to make contact with aliens So, we send them Wikipedia? That would be OK...just without wars, past & military...& cars...& technology... ;) non-profit org. Play4Life in Zagreb, Croatia, EU |

We are simply too far from other stars even to communicate would be impossible. Then again the smartest thing on another water world might be whales with no need to leave their home or even care about others in the stars. |

Yes, unless a lot of what we see in science fiction turns out to be buildable I fear we are stuck here alone in our little corner of the universe. Our curiousity makes us the inquisitive minds we are at present which is not bad to begin with but when trying to communicate with intelligent extraterrestrial life we should always remain humble. rOZZ Music Pictures |

The whales are much smarter than humans. "For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons." --- Douglas Adams |
