I seem to be getting a fair number of APS now. No, they have March deadlines. |

I seem to be getting a fair number of APS now. D'oh. The resends will have March deadlines - 25 days for today sounds like round about 16 March. It's the tasks that were sent out 25 days ago that I was talking about - the ones which have expired in the last few hours and had to be sent out again to a new host because of the failure. |

Looks like it will be some time yet for AP's http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/forum_thread.php?id=2182&postid=53741 |

Ahh, the fool... We broke him finally......... No, really.........thank you, my fellow Seti friend. Best regards to all who contribute to our search. I salute you. Meow. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

OK... So a question for those more closely on the wu pulse than myself at the moment... Is there a WU supply shortage at the moment? Or is there a limit/slowdown for how many WUs a single host can simultaneously gobble through? (OK, so this is part of some systems tests...) Happy fast crunchin'! OK... So a question for those more closely on the wu pulse than myself at the moment... Don't think there is a problem. I got 3065 out of a possible 3100, and the crunchers are whacking them out like there is no tomorrow. I'll check the ol' crickets to be sure, but the servers are all online and kicking the WUs out. The kitties are just salivating for some AP kibbles....THEN you'll see some cricket action. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

If your looking for AstroPulse WUs then you won't get them since they are down for maintenance at this time, but MutliBeam WU are readily available. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html |

OK... So a question for those more closely on the wu pulse than myself at the moment... Suggests then it might just be start up caution on the Boinc client... Just now started a 'max-out' test and I'm getting only a steady but very slow trickle of about 1 WU per every few minutes to load things up from cold. Sounds like best to head out into the light of the real world for a while whilst things slowly warm up here... Thanks, Martin See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

OK... So a question for those more closely on the wu pulse than myself at the moment... It might be a bit of a kick to start out from 'cold iron' at this point, but it would catch up sooner rather than later. Traffic is maxed, but never been more efficient than at present. At the moment there is a lot of traffic happening onto the BOINC domain. This can cause you not being able to reach any of the sites. There is a simple solution for this, instead of using the HTTP protocol to contact the sites, use the HTTPS protocol. Then all pages, expect a few and except the front page, will load almost instantaneously. E.g. when http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/ does not load or gives time outs, try https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/ instead. Development is looking into it what's causing the load, and checking if it's HTC that gave the command to 1,000,000+ new mobile devices through Power-to-Give to go download the new client from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php |

Looks like we have some trouble, given that some stats and the backup database are now 24 hours out, according to SSP. I am still getting a dribble of tasks, however, and uploads are happening. |

This snapshot of seti@home server data shows the system works pretty well. Rates were computed from the data and graphed. Using rates instead of raw values gives a “control system†view of system reaction under load. Graph 3 rates were computed: # of results ready to send/hour, # returned results/hr, and # waiting for validation/hr. The graph suggests that the system is driven by return rate. When the return rate is low, the server increases ready results to send. Validation appears to have extra capacity. Validation speed gets ahead of the incoming results, relaxes and the awaiting validation rate levels off. Of course many control system parameters could be computed from the server status page. These are just 3 intuitive ones from an irregularly collected short data sample as time permitted. So this is a “rough draft†of system performance. Several of the Server status numbers have been frozen for a while. eg Average turnaround time for AP & MB as well as Received in the last hour for both. Grant Darwin NT |

Any word if they have more tapes to do? I've been wondering how big to make my cache in anticipation of AP work very soon. I'm thinking they may just be stopping work now to clean out some of the files, so they have more room for the new and improved(?) AP database tomorrow(?). Well I hope anyways. |
