Why not ask Joe - either Segur or Fox? At any rate, I don't think it's a question for the Panic Mode thread, which is subtitled for server problems.

Yes, but I still can't find int8.h on the webpage, and after updating Xcode I still get;
/Users/Tom/svn/branches/sah_v7_opt/AKv8/db/sqldefs.h:22:10: 'int8.h' file not found

What options are you using in configure?

Claggy

Which "configure"? There are numerous configures.
As far as I know it's using the defaults, the main page says No Configurations Set.
It's reading from the Repository;
Source Control
Repository â—‰ svn
Version 1673
Location: https://setisvn.ssl.berkeley.edu/svn/branches/sah_v7_opt/AKv8/mac_build/seti_boinc.xcodeproj

One would think a file concerning Database Formats would be present in any configuration.

Sorry, i was expecting to be like using gcc on linux.

The one thing i was going to suggest is you don't need the server components so make sure --disable-server is used.

Isn't r1673 a bit old in the tooth? probably not maintained, Urs's recent apps are in the r27** range,

there is a Mac configure there:

./configure --enable-fast-math -C --with-apple-opengl-framework --with-boinc-platform=powerpc-apple-darwin --without-x --disable-dynamic-graphics --with-my-libjpeg --with-my-jpeglib

Hmmm, it is about a file missing from the Repository server, and after 4 days I'm starting to Panic. Mr Fox appears MIA, which is why I'm attempting this endeavor. I have asked Urs, but he is a little slow at responding. I suppose I can just try the compile in the terminal and see how that goes...for now.

I still have v6 WUs waiting for validation... noticed one yesterday.

Are you talking about AP v6? All 16 of your machines show "SETI@home Enhanced (0)"

Out of AP's on both I7 machines, down to 1 very long one on the Xeon, and just doing MBs. Shut down one I7 for a rest and cleaning and I'm taking the Xeon off line to save electricity(got a notice from utilities company saying I use 11% more power than neighbors[sigh, big brother world]).

Slowing things down til AP works again.

Use 11% more. So what.

Don't you pay more?

Absolutely I pay more........I guess their point is I'm not GREEN ENOUGH...

And they know where they can put that argument.

I used to have 5000 watts of HPS lighting on my GREENERY and I had no notices saying I was using more. Heee, Heee
That was when I was exempted under the Health Canada System.
Disability even helped me pay the hydro. those days are gone though. At least until Herr Harper is gone and JT is next PM of Canada.

I know about KWHs, my friends.

I burn a lot of them.
It does give me time to perhaps wonder what I could do with the price that I pay.

Well.. there goes the last AP of my 10-day cache (well, it has about 4 minutes left). It's okay though, I can wait for APs to come back. In the meantime, I have a lot of encoding projects to do that I normally tell BOINC to snooze for, so at least I won't have to tell it to snooze now.

Given my proximity to the People's Republic of Boulder, I suspect it's choice B.
My monthly electricity consumption is very consistently around 1000 kwh, which I don't think is really all that extreme.
:Shrugs: I smell a marketing ploy.

as long as they don't penalize you for using more than your neighbors, this is really just a non-issue. I generally keep an eye on what my cost per kWh ends up being and look at all the little $2 fees and taxes and so forth to look for fishy things.

I know a lot of areas of this country have higher rates during peak ours and so forth, but in my area, we do not. Instead, we have three tiers:

0-500 kWh : $0.24 per kWh
501-1500 : $0.15 per kWh
1501+ : $0.08 per kWh

So if you use 1743, then you pay (500 * 0.24) + (1000 * 0.15) + (243 * 0.08) = $289.44. Then there's usually about $50 worth of fuel surcharges, various taxes and so forth, and the predicted difference in the rate of their coal or oil costs for next month (despite being hydro-electric..) (which usually ends up being less than 50 cents, but then a couple hundred thousand people chip in.. and it adds up quite a bit).

I'm sure the above rates for the tiers have changed (again) since I called and inquired about that three years ago to find out why I changed my thermostat from 68*F to 74*F during the summer, got rid of two extra refrigerators, changed quite a few lights out to fluorescent, and started policing things like leaving TVs on and stuff when nobody's watching it.. and my bill was still climbing like $30/mo. Found out it was because they were ramping the rates up (to pay for a $7B state-of-the-art power plant that they only got federal grants to cover half of), and the coal costs were soaring.

I've never gotten any kind of notice or indication that my usage is high compared to those nearby. My usage for three straight years never dropped below 3300kWh every month..year round. Then I got new windows installed and it dropped almost in half.

If I had off-peak rates like yours I might consider having beefier machines, but I pay ~$0.18 KWh 24/7. Well that is the amount I average just doing bill amount/KWh used. I keep long running & yearly averages in a spreadsheet so I can track changes. Running SETI adds about 50% more KWh to my yearly usage, or about $50/mo.

My three machines (all now running GTX cards) add about $25 a month to power costs. The offset of heat generation is negligible in my case. I do not run 24/7 due to personal preference but I do 365. Power consumption increased when I replaced 2 dual Xeon workstations with I7 4770 machines and big graphics cards and 1kw power supplies.

So just a home hobbiest, not a server farm........ :Dg
