I still state that haveing two big ass oceans on both sides was a deterant utill U-boats and ICBM,s.

Indeed. Sweden is protected from The Russian Bear thanks to the Baltic Sea.
No invasions or attacks so far:)

With all due respect, the Baltic sea protects Sweden from invasion about as much as the Rio Grande river protects the US from invasion. :))

Today yes, but not in an historical perspective:)
I know that the last time Russia tried they came into OUR archepilago was in the 18'th centuary. They didn't succede as you know.
But Russia is still lurking there, last time this autumn very close to Stockholm.
And Russia has now a lot of VDV. Invasion forces training on the doorstep to Estonia.
Do this simple Google search https://www.google.se/#q=lars+gyllenhaal+tanks+ryssland+flyg+lands%C3%A4ttning+invasion
Lots of airborne amphibious vehicles and tanks together with lots of paratrooper.
VDV stands for Russian Airborne Troops "Vozdushno-Desantnye Voyska"

Beat that US!

EDIT: Come to think about Alaska. Soo close to Russia that even Sarah Palin can see it from her kitchen window:)

The film sequence below begins as a quiet promotional clip but then turns to what is presented as more event-filled scenes. At 2:00 a JAS Gripen from Sweden arrives.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvPmHXY6-8s
This is from when Russian troops on a total of 70 000 men were surprising the Sweden's neighboring countries of Russia and Belarus in 2013. That's more than twice as many as Russian troops told about. The Balts are worried and sees the exercises as attack preparations against them and Poland.

The plane looming in the current video sequence is a reconnaissance equipped Gripen, ie an unarmed Gripen, according to Lars Gyllenhaal, military historian and co-author of the new book "Russian Elite Units".

Side note:)
Danish language! This Danish (NATO member) testpilot "PEL" for the new jetfighter competition received flight training on JAS Gripen, video of his first flight in the front seat. Afterwards he repeat the word "Fantastic" 3 times.. "A Pilot's dream". The version offered to Denmark has a further 30% more powerful Engine.

Michel, as of 1812, the land we had still wasn't much more than the coastal areas anyway.
James, putting your point together with Michel's, it's apples and oranges. We now span (east-west) the continent. We didn't back then.

Well, look at a map of that time and you'll see the US consisted of a bit more than just those coastal areas. And that aside, the coastal area itself is pretty huge.

In any case, my point still stands. The 2nd amendment doesn't deter nations from invading the US, the sheer size of territory that would need to be conquered, raw military power of the US army and the impossible logistics involved with such an invasion do.

You will notice the "not much more than" qualifier.
You will also note that in what at the time was a recent acquirement (about 8 years before), land size versus population density would tell very different stories.
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

Russian National Anthem with Swedish lyrics.
That is phonetical translation and depictions of the translation:)
More over its accurate pronounciation in Swedish.

VK, former Vkontakte (Russian: Вконтакте, 'In touch'), is Russia's largest social networking site. VK is the second most visited website in the Russian-speaking part of the Internet [2] and had in 2013 about 80 million active users, more than half of Russia. Early in 2014 sold the founder Pavel Durov its ownership of the company, and in the spring he was forced (by his own admission) away from VK, as part of the political pressure on it until the independent network company.

Kermit in a GULAG from VK:)

I will concede That the Northern part of Alaske Is close to Russia. But Russia is also close to Cananda.
Im sure that sticks in Russia's Craw, To have sold Alaska to the US. Oh how history would have been differant if they had kept it. Just think of the military bases Russia could have had in ours and Canadas back door.

Tomorrow, Prime Minister Stephen Lövfen (S) will go to Ukraine to show their support. At the same time the Russian embassy in Sweden writes on Facebook that the Ukraine War is Sweden's fault!
This is the article FM Margot Wallström wrote that got Russia p***d off.
"We must stand up for what is right in all our dealings with Russia and we should not allow the slightest provocation or violation." - Margot Wallström
http://www.svd.se/opinion/brannpunkt/ryssland-ett-allvarligt-hot-mot-europas-fred_4388101.svd

Russias answer!
https://www.facebook.com/RusEmbassySweden?fref=nf
It's sad that article of the honorable minister in SvD's online version of March 6 has a one-sided character. It lacks the important thing - the cause that gave rise to the entire Ukrainian events. Namely, the West's will, not least in Sweden as the initiator of the EU's Eastern Partnership, in all ways to push through Kiev in the European Union.
The main tool proved to be a coup d'état, a violent change of power, which pushed Ukraine into the abyss of civil war.
As they say in Russia, "you should start from the beginning," but not in a narrow and subjective way to fit facts to a pre-prepared scenario and accuse Russia for all "mortal sins".

First of all I suggest that Russias embassy in Sweden learn some Swedish!
Then Путин - хуйло!!!

Are we soon looking forward to Swedens 34'th war with Russia?

I suggest that Russian embassy in Sweden get a gallon of red paint through their letterbox at 3am one morning!

Gjorwellsgatan 31,
11260 Stockholm,
Sverige

LOL.
Diplomats are large parking sinners in Sweden.
Russia is the Embassy which is by far the worst.
So far this year they have shied away from parking fines of more than 49,000 crowns without being punished.
- I think that the Foreign Ministry should put out a black list online so that they may be ashamed bit, says Per Ankersjö (C).
Then the cops could give driving ban to the cars or remove the parking spaces around the embassy.

In Russia, you get no fine but instead this.

Or even better. Paint the Embassy Blue and Yellow:)
That would hurt them.

Unpaid fines

Not in Sweden. Possibly it is because of this man.
US Ambassador to Sweden Mark Brzezinski who now ends his term. Replacement will be Azita Raji, the country's first female ambassador in Sweden.
- The relationship between Sweden and the US has never been stronger, says Brzezinski.

He participated in a food contest in the TV along with 3 other amateurs.
The final in Stockholm was held at the home of the US ambassador Mark Brzezinski. He served the guests lobster from Maine, TexMex marinated flank steak with Spanish rice and apple pie from the West Coast.

Janne, it is generally considered bad form to post multiple messages in a row. Far better to gather your thoughts together, and post a coherent, co-ordinated synopsis of your thoughts and opinions at one go.

Choose not to comment that!

To be fair, they were on three different topics, with reasonable periods of time in between.

Perhaps London should invest in the 'Denver Boot', a little invention that gets the parking ticket scofflaws attention.

The owners must pay ALL outstanding fines to get it removed and each day that goes by earns another fine. A LOT cheaper than towing.

Yes, and about time they paid their £5,000,000!

I know that Russia was in debt to Finland.
They got BUK's instead:)

If a vehicle is causing an obstruction worthy of a ticket, then immobilising it with a clamp does not help the situation.
