Well now as every one in here knows, I never like to interject 1938 Munich Agreement ceded Czechoslovakia area to the Third Reich. Well it happened again but it was when Russia invaded Czechoslovakia 1968. Almost like Hungary 1956. And now Ukraine. |

Well now as every one in here knows, I never like to interject myself in to any international conflicts. I must at this time point out that what happened to Czechoslovakia in the 1930s is set to happen again in the east. I say unlike the former occurrence, a lot of pain can be avoided if the west just gives Mr. Putin all of the former soviet states plus, oh.... Ireland. That should hold him off for a while. Just saying....

still fighting each other after 2,000 years of "civilization". Its more like at least ten or twelve thousand years, and still going strong.... (I keep seeing clues of civilizations stretching back way more than 2,000 years.)

Why this obsession with FOX? Better Than MSNBC. Well, everything is better than MSNBC. But what about the russians? I Think they lost about 20 millions peoples because of the Nazi terror. |

Your personal world is free due in large part to many thousands of AMERICANS who gave their lives alongside your countrymen and those of other nations.....TWICE in 20 years! Mind you, Europeans have been waging war a lot longer than Americans have. I'm pretty sure that when there comes a time when a crazy despot tries to overrun Europe with big armies, we know what to do. |

The question now is this: - "With the Russia/Ukraine" situation as it stands, will the Yanks prevent it from worsening or escalate it?" The EU is ineffectual in this as it's down to just 2 men - Obama & Putin. Russian roulette - which man will give up 1st? |

I have always thanked the Americans for coming into the war in Europe. It did shorten it by 18 months or so and many thousands of allied lives were saved. They weren't really "late" into the war, up until the end of 1941 it regarded the war in Europe as a European thing only. Then on 7th December 1941 Japan bombed Pearl Harbour, and the next day December 8th, America declared war on Japan. Following that declaration, Japan's allies, Germany and Italy, declared war on the United States on 11 December. The same day America declared war on Germany and Italy, definitively bringing the United States into World War II. but don't fall into the usual trap of thinking America won the battle of Europe. They played a major role in "helping" the Allies to win it, but they didn't do it single handedly no they didn't. But whenever Americans say we had to come over and win the war for you then they will get the same retort as they have had for the last 70 years, better late than never, and the classic "There are three things wrong with the Americans, over paid, over sexed, and over here". So let's all appreciate everyones contribution. |

Perhaps you won't be late to the next one. Normandy landings: British Second Army 83,115. American First Army ~73,000. Thanks for your help, but don't fall into the usual trap of thinking America won the battle of Europe. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

Don't believe the War Propaganda, regarding NAZI Germany. A significant portion of Americans were not for the 'European War'. It was Japan which attacked us. Had you only stuck to the war in the pacific, the map of Europe would not be as it is today, & the USA would have been isolated. you would have more than likely won that war but at a cost too great to even contemplate any further action within Europe. |
