Maybe remove the foundation and use a sheet of 3/4 to 1 inch plywood. My bed looks like this. The Matress is sitting on a sheet of 1/2 inch osb. The top height of the Matress is knee level. So sitting down is not a issue. And you don't have far to go if you fall out. ID: 1643654 ·
