OMG?? Thanks Steve, gas clouds. :) Thanks Bob. I agree with you on Hubble and it's discoveries. I have a huge poster of Pillars of Creation. Always captivated by the image. |

OMG?? I think the images from the Hubble telescope are some of the most important discoveries of the 20th century. Several of them have been my desktop background on my computer. OMG?? I enjoy looking at them also. I think they are beautiful! They are breeding grounds for new stars, but in the end, they are just clouds of gas. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

OMG?? 'Pillars of Creation' - are just clouds. I was not making a case for God. Just enjoy looking at them. Belief, does not belong here. |

+ 1000 Bob, I like it. To me God is a concept and a creation of the human mind and a result of our need to have a purpose in life. Also a way to explain why things happen the way that they do. Yep, if we didn't have a God we would have to invent one. Otherwise how could we have all this OMG For Gods sake Cor blimey Oh Lord Holy Moses All religion is bunkum, always has been and always will be. If you need it OK, fine, there it is, use it. Some of us are not so weak that we need it to survive. |

To me God is a concept and a creation of the human mind and a result of our need to have a purpose in life. Also a way to explain why things happen the way that they do. In earlier days man couldn't explain things like why the sun comes up every day or why or what things like lightning were. What made volcanos erupt or floods occur so the explanation was they were acts of God. Nowadays we are at the point where there are very few things that can't be explained scientifically. One is how did it all start, another is what turns an inert pile of elements into a living creature. So far, no matter how hard we have tried scientists, chemists and biologists with their combined knowledge have not been able to create life, even in it's simplest forms. One of the things that makes us what we are is the need to understand our surroundings and to be able to exert some control over nature. Now that we have learned that the earth is not the center of the universe it perplexes us not to be able to exert any influence over how the future unfolds. No matter how hard we try there is nothing we can do that will alter the future outside of our little sphere of influence. Maybe someday we will be able to affect events locally but in the great big scheme of things we are totally insignificant. We are insignificant creatures living on an insignificant planet circling an insignificant star in a galaxy that is just one of billions pretty much the same. We are most likely not even the only living creatures in this vast universe. But in the most important ways we are unique. Do we have a purpose in life? Maybe, but it is also very possible that we are an accident of nature and in the long run totally unimportant in the grand scheme of things. I saw a TV show a few months ago, that described a stellar explosion that happened in the past, and has not yet reached the Pillars of Creation. When the blast wave does reach it, the pillars will be deformed, or possibly swept away. I forget the time line of when the collision will occur, but it seems to be a certainty that it will, at least from the conclusions of the TV show. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! To me, physicist, the Trinity resembles a triplet representation in group theory, while God in Jewish or Islamic form resembles the singlet representation of the same group. I hope not to be shot by same fanatic. Tullio |

God has always been traditionally been seen as a male being, as it is difficult for painters and sculptors to portray an entity. The holy trinity means that God is God, Jesus is God on earth, and the holy spirit is God in spirit form. It is likened to how water can be ice, steam and water, but it is the same thing. God is ubiquitous. rOZZ Music Pictures |

God doesn't laugh at people Bob, he laughs with us:) I'd like to believe that God is more of an entity. Certainly no hermaphrodite:) rOZZ Music Pictures |

God doesn't laugh at people Bob, he laughs with us:) How can God be male or female? Pretty lonely to have those parts and not be able to use them for eternity. Or are there two of them?

Blinding lights and reading between the lines. It never happens, of course. Never believe in such things. |
