Message 1620757 - Posted: 30 Dec 2014, 15:19:33 UTC

Hi, I just started Dec 1, and it all seemed to be working. I just looked at my log file tho and it says no work available. I have been trying to tweak my prefs a bit, but I'm back at defaults now. No idea what's going on..

Tue Dec 30 10:06:04 2014 | SETI@home | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
Tue Dec 30 10:06:04 2014 | SETI@home | Requesting new tasks for CPU
Tue Dec 30 10:06:05 2014 | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
Tue Dec 30 10:06:05 2014 | SETI@home | Project has no tasks available

is this pretty normal? It was flying thru stuff from Dec 1 to the 28th, then (likely thanks to prefs change) I noted the GPU was rapidly cycling in the log file (start/suspend) so I reset my prefs, but nothing is available for CPU.

Thanks for any insight!

According to the server status page, under Results Ready to Send, there is no work available at the moment.

The project is about to go down for their weekly maintenance. You'll probably get more after they come back up.

The project has suffered a number of server problems in the last few weeks and task distribution is "somewhat erratic" just now - one might say its the "current normal" :-(

There's only 263 workunits in the ready-to-send queue as I type this. There is a limit of 100 workunits per machine (I think), so that queue could easily be swallowed up by two work requests. It really is luck of the draw if you get some.

Ok, I think I sorta kinda get what's going on. It's all good, well, sans my Nvidia card/CUDA which I'll address separately. Thanks to you all for the pointers!

WOW!

I finally got one!

Since it is the only thing running and using < 12.5% of the CPU, I wonder, is there any way to make it use all 8 CPUs?

No, Seti apps are not multithreaded, so it's only WU/core.

Say.... nice PC. Did you have one "back-in-the-day"?

Yes, my first computer had 8K of RAM. The manual was next to useless.

First thing I programmed on it
10 input "What is your name " a$
20 print "Hello " a$
30 goto 10

Run
