I know there is no comparison between Alberta and your State, but here every one is noticing the substantial difference in the amount of moisture from this spring and last spring. Last year we had standing water all over the area with all the attendant wild life to go with it. This year there is very little standing water, and a distinct lack of wild things around. There are lots of birds flying over our heads on the fly way, but not many landing. I must say, your water shortage seems very alarming. |

Biggest problem in my neighborhood is, no water meters. Evenso there is a law going in effect in 2025, yah I know years down the road, that everyone has to have one. Not possible in my area, as the set up does not allow it. Most homeowers are responsible enough, it is the renters that are the problem. Of course not all of them, but mine next door is. Once tax season is over, I will work on documenting the leaks and reporting them. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

I've read in "green" literature that barrels can be set up to catch rainwater from roofs. It would be interesting to know how many people in the S-W have such set-ups. |

We are still four inches shy of normal. My grass will be brown, same as last year. I am going to capture the start up water for the shower to get hot in buckets to water some of my plants. Been thinking about it, but just have not done it. I wish that mine was brown already Uli. :-( Cheers. |

Biggest problem in my neighborhood is, no water meters. Even so there is a law going in effect in 2025, yeah I know years down the road, that everyone has to have one. Not possible in my area, as the set up does not allow it. Most homeowners are responsible enough, it is the renters that are the problem. Of course not all of them, but mine next door is. The park tried putting water meters in the park, their attempt only resulted in frozen water pipes, the reason? The meters weren't buried in the ground in a box that surrounds the meter, so being exposed to air and being the owner at the time was cheap and stupid, of course the meters froze and broke. So there are still no meters today, some say the water pressure is a bit weaker than it was in the past, Me I'm not so sure of the the water pressure being weaker. So far there are no leaks from My place, soon enough though I'm going to have to get some new pipe insulation for some of the few copper pipes that I have here. I don't think 2025 will be an issue for me, I think I will chalk it in by then. Our freezes are light almost nothing maybe a frost now and then, our water lines are about 1.5 to 2 foot deep. Cheers everybody Life is short so don't sip Beer speaks, people mumble |

There has been severe weather moving through northern Illinois this evening. I'm fine here (it has mostly gone north or south of me), but the worst of it went through the area where Lynn lives. No one has mentioned her town, but thunderstorms and tornadoes have been moving through numerous towns around her. I've been watching the local TV stations, but I understand The Weather Channel has been covering it extensively for the last few hours. This doesn't belong in the weather thread, but my computer has just started showing approx. (now) 19:00 hrs., EDT, instead of 18:00 hrs. My cell phone, also, shows 18:00 hrs. Anyone else with this discrepancy? My computer is a Dell, Ultrabook, with Windows 7. No similar pblms., before. |
