Earlier today there was a report that Stornaway had recorded the highest steady wind speed in the UK of 114, gusting to 140, and that is not in a tornado and in an area where they are used to gusts in excess of 100. (I've a friend who is on one of the small fishery protection vessels "bobbing around" the North West of Scotland somewhere. I do hope she manages to find shelter...)
