Message 1613145 - Posted: 13 Dec 2014, 4:31:16 UTC

As some of you have noticed the Astropulse database is back down. We brought it down to delete some empty data chunks and move the new data chunks onto local storage which went just fine. But when I brought the database back up it complained that one of the root data chunks was corrupt. This was a chunk that wasn't touched in the process.

After many attempts to repair the damage it became apparent that we needed to restore the fragment containing that chunk. (Yes, I know this is all gibberish.) Unfortunately in order to restore one 16GB file we need to read in the entire 4.5TB backup and then run the logs since that backup was made (Tuesday). The first step will take at least 36 hours. I can't estimate the duration of step 2 yet.

Well they say things happen in threes, so with Bruno falling over and the astro database down twice I think that once it's up again things should be golden.

Thank's Eric for updates . Switched back over to Bitcoin and now the pool servers aren't working for last 6 hrs . I can't win . Oh well at least i saved some AP's for CPU so i'll crunch them until either project gets back to normal .

As sparky said skit happens in 3's so once you get it back up and running we should be good to go . Fingers crossed

Ditto what DAD said. Maybe Santa will bring a winning lottery ticket this year so I can drop some $$$ on S@H. By they way, how come you guys in California are always pulling in at least one million winner on every drawing? Give the rest of us a break ;-)

The restore of the missing portions seems to have worked, but I want Matt and Jeff to look it over before I turn everything back on. So we should be back up tomorrow.

Good news and understandable caution.

Thanks for the update.

AP database is now running.

But the validators and assimilators aren't.

Nor the splitters.

Things should be back up and running now. Just had to check out a few things before enabling the splitters and assimilators.

Thanks Eric for keeping us informed with this stages of progress. I would think the AP servers if everything is okay will be brought online after tomorrow's weekly maintenance period

Thanks, Eric.

I just looked at the SSP and saw the AP validates running, but not the assimilators.

BTW, any idea when Beta will start exporting stats?
