Message 1634046 - Posted: 28 Jan 2015, 12:23:32 UTC - in response to Message 1634044.

1:59 AM - PST, and I've been up for about 15 Min... :-(

More insomnia... :-(

:( Have you tried taking some melatonin?

http://sleepfoundation.org/sleep-topics/melatonin-and-sleep

(they only sell those pills in the States...)

Here's another link:

http://www.webmd.com/vitamins-supplements/ingredientmono-940-melatonin.aspx?activeingredientid=940&activeingredientname=melatonin

Isn't melatonin the reason you get a tan in the sun?

I think that's beta carotene...not sure

Hmm, nothing alike. I wonder where I got that idea from then? Lol :)

Carrots give you a nice brown tan tho and are good for the eyes.

YES, Melatonin is what makes skin tan in the sun; but, it is also the neurotransmitter in the brain that helps you sleep. :-)

I thought the skin chemical was melanin.

Looks like I was mistaken... It doesn't allow tanning of the skin; but, it does control skin pigmentation. (I knew it did something for the skin.)

So, you're right Gordon. Melanin allows for the tanning process.

I haven't tried those pills, yet... I have Zolpidem/Generic Ambien that I take if insomnia hits me early. However; if I wake up in the middle of the night, it isn't good for me to take one. Melatonin might be a good supplement. If I have some "free" money in February, I'll pick some up.

Evenso I is am natural herb lover or what ever, PLEASE check with your Dr first. Even the good stuff can interfer with your current Meds.
