Almost forgot how unintrusive is the GPU crunching on SETI@home...been running nVidia card on GPUgrid, and that screen was "too slow" for anything to do! Had to pause the GPU crunching to work on it... :D

I had a LOT of units and two days later - gone. Im back on Einstein to have something to do.

While waiting I noticed in the Notices it said to check out BitcoinUtopia. Anyone get that to work? I thought it would be good to do that and give back to the foundation but, Ive been unable to make anything of it.

I was able to get BitCoin Utopia working for a couple days, then the report came in that they were having DNS issues and require users to add an entry to their hosts file to be able to contact the project servers, but I've opted to wait until they fix their DNS issues and set the resource share to zero (backup project only).

Their DNS issues were resolved over the weekend. Been running fine this week so far.

Looks like it! Nothing available for download, yet some splitters appear to be running.

This project has lots of data to crunch IMO. After all we have years worth that was processed without the benefit of autocorrelation or the newer algorithems and the same holds true for pre AP data, when we get low on the new stuff we should be reexamining the old stuff with our latest apps. I believe that worked well over at Einstein, IIRC they ran some 12 year old data processed by someone else and found 3 pulsars that the previous project missed. Gold miners do that also where they will work old tailings with newer equipment and find gold others missed.

Most likely you are correct! However, my system is running out of work units to run on at the present.

Time to head back to work on the fund drive at bitcoinutopia, I guess.

Cheers!!

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
--- Margaret Mead
That's a great quote. One thing that bothers me is how mainstream scientists still don't take the UFO subject seriously. It is now becoming mainstream with the testimony of very qualified observers. How can mainstream science ignore testimony from Dr. Edgar Mitchel, Gordon Cooper (both American Heros) and other astronauts/cosmonauts and other very qualified government and civilian experts/witnesses? Science is supposed to be open-minded but when it comes to this subject, there is a stonewall in the way. It is time for everyone to open there minds and at least look at the data and evidence without preconceived opinions. It will be very embarassing when the truth comes out and the majority of scientists could not see what was right in front of them! I already feel sorry for you, I really do, sincerely.

Why don't we concentrate our searches a little closer to home. Most visitors communicate telepathically but to communicate to Earthlings from their ships, they must use some type of technology that we may be able to pick up. It's worth a try anyway, better than nothing.

There is a thread about UFOs in SETI@home Science. Maybe you should post there.

Hi all

I've been reading the forums trying to figure out what might be wrong with one of my computers but I can't see anything wrong and it just won't download SETI tasks. It actually bothers me cuz it's the only one with a decent GPU and I can't make it get any science. My other computer is crunching SETI like it was born for it. Any idea what could be happening here?

The computer with no tasks has an NVIDIA Quadro K2000M, CUDA 6.5, newest driver.

Thanks!

You should ask this in Number Crunching.
